This Lame Duck session is further proof that all of these people need term limits
It's the first time in a long time some of these people actually put country first. Maybe if McCain didn't have the luxury to die a senator, he'd actually do his job.

1. McCain just won re-election
Voters decided who gets the luxury. They decided that Feingold didn't. Elections are term limits. What's needed is for people to take voting seriously: show up and not vote against their interests.

4. Agree, elections are term limits. Arbitrary term limits are a pet peeve of mine. (nt)

6. I agree
Some in Congress can actually vote the way they really feel because they lost their job. No more playing politics because, for many, there won't be another election.

I am in favor of term limits. I do agree with the posters above that say that voters need to vote, and that elections are term limits. True.
But when we do vote, and they still don't listen to us, then it really doesn't matter if we voted for them or not.
I am not in favor of career politicians. Yes, voters make the ultimate decision as to whether or not our Congress folks head back to DC or not, but maybe more work would get done if there were limits. Don't know for sure, but still support limits.

7. I'd like to see term limits too
For those who say that they are an insult to voters' intelligence, I say, "Yeah, so. What's your point?"

12. Actually it is not
Look at the excellent job that Kerry, in his fifth term is doing on New Start. Look at the excellent job fourth term, Lieberman did on DADT (there are other reasons we wanted him out.) Many long serving Democrats are doing very good jobs in the lame duck session.

13. If we had term limits, then senators would get 6 years
of being able to do whatever they want knowing they won't have to face the voters again.

15. Or, they wouldn't feel beholden to corporate campaign
contributions and vote in the best interests of the people. Two sides to that coin...
