James Fallow in the Atlantic.com describes visiting the Senate last Sunday in a short article worth reading just because it is so well written. Among other things, he speaks of how Kerry is a champion debater and Inhofe is not. Then this intriguing comment:

"And a complimentary (and complementary) remark by John Kerry about family news of his stepson Christopher Heinz, whose late father John Heinz had of course been a Senator."

Thanks to the article's detailed description of the Senator's he saw speak and CSPAN's well organized archive, here is the CSPAN clip,

Congratulation to the Chris Heinzes and to the proud grandparents. (In Kerry's expression, it is clear he was thinking of the man the baby was named for.)

1. Always liked the Heinz sons and love the Kerrys and their ability to combine a family.
My own husband has had 3 stepfathers. He considers one of them to be like his real Dad. Congrats to Chris.

2. It was impressive that the Kerry and Heinz kids all seemed to really like and respect
each other and Teresa and John Kerry as well. The obvious affection that JK and Chris Heinz had for each other was really suggested to me what good people they all were.
