What a difference having a Commander in Chief who is really in command of the situation
For those of you who just got done watching President Obama speak and then sign the repeal of DADT, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

The way he speaks with such complete control, confidence, vision, and goodness just rubs off on you in so many ways that it's like the best present you could get during this holiday season. Even if you don't agree with all of his agenda, we are very fortunate to have him leading us right now, he makes you feel that good.

3. I hate the tax thing, too, but I've gotta take everything else into account
and be grateful that we have someone who looks and acts like a real leader because that is what this country needs right now more than anything. As frustrated as I felt over the tax cuts being extended, he still blows me away in too many other ways to let one issue get the best of me.

9. "he still blows me away in too many other ways to let one issue get the best of me."
I thought he's continuing the Bush presidency?

10. Is it against DU rules to dislike the tax issue but still like the man overall?
Or is there only black and white in your world and no gray in between? Feel free to bring up any past threads of mine if it makes you feel good. I stand by everything I said.

12. Do you think
the tax cuts are equivalent to continuing the Bush Presidency?

13. Stop beating around the bush & just post whatever link to whatever I said
Edited on Wed Dec-22-10 11:46 AM by mtnsnake
that's on your mind because I know that's what you're leading up to. You have my blessings to do so, not that you need them. Go ahead.

4. Millions of Americans feel wonderful about the extra year of UI they got with that same legislation.
Edited on Wed Dec-22-10 11:00 AM by ClarkUSA
Too often, the perfect is truly the enemy of the good at DU. I, on the other hand, could give a shit about the wealthy as long as the long-term unemployed and their families continue to get UI.

I also like the Obama Unemployment Extension & the Obama 2% Payroll Tax Cut for Working Families, which together make up the largest stimulus plan the Republicans didn't know they voted for. I like the Obama Middle-Class Tax Cuts and the Obama Small Business Investment Tax Holiday (for one year).

7. He gives a good speech. Too bad that most of it is just window-
dressing for the masses.

8. So you think DADT repeal is "just window-dressing for the masses"?
Is that the RNC talking point of the day?

17. He is signing a bill
That's action. Even when he does something, he's still accused of just speaking which is useless (though it's also the bully pulpit).

How twisted for you to go to that one when he's actually signing something.

6. It is nice to have a President who speaks in complete sentences.
But if that's all it takes to make us happy, the bar is set really low.

16. Unfortunately, it is
sad to see how low both our 'leadership' and our expectations of quality have fallen.
