1. This is the damndest thing I've ever seen.
Seven weeks ago the Democratic Party was over. Today we've won fight after fight and just as we move into a year where the GOP will take the House, I feel more optimistic then I have since the third week in January, 2009.

6. I don't think the Democratic Party was about to be over;
The blogs and pundits were just convincing themselves it was, proving that those outside the process can only speculate.

2. I think we need to call this session something other than "Lameduck"
Maybe the "Fire under their ass" session 'cause they know much won't get done over the next 2 years.

4. The real lame duck session starts after the new year.
I hope average people and the MSM bother to notice why.

10. Noticed that, did you?
Gives me an uneasy feeling as well. Great progress is being made on social issues, but I have to wonder how much of that is hand-waving to take the spotlight off of Powers that would rather pull strings in obscurity.

13. A lot of what has been passed this session will bring the equivalent joy of NAFTA
to the American people when the party is over in a year.

Then people will realize that all that glistens isn't gold.

And short term "feel good" fixes do not solve long-term problems and often make them worse.

Oh and big oops! we have taken down the wall between Social Security and the General Fund - well then it's time to CHOP, CHOP, CHOP IT!

16. I am SO glad that Harry Reid was re-elected.
Thanks to Hispanic brothers and sisters who helped him get there.

I hope this small taste of power of the ballot box has been motivating.

17. What if Dems had been like this for the past two years?
We would have a public option AND Employee Free Choice!
