1. Other: Social Security is such a simple issue that it can be boiled down to two choices on an
online poll. Obama should wave his magic wand and fix it, of course.

2. Please explain why there should be any income cap at all?
Eliminate it entirely.

3. Do you know why the retirees on SS are getting screwed?
Edited on Tue Dec-28-10 05:28 PM by golfguru
Because their annual raise is based on the CPI which does NOT
include FOOD & ENERGY! Those 2 items are inflating faster than
almost everything else besides health care.

Food & Energy are huge percentage of senior's living expenses.
Even if they are renters, the rent goes up commensurate with
heating cost for the landlord.

There was no raise at all for SS two years in a row. Anyone who
shops for groceries can see the inflation in food prices. And
now oil is heading for $100 per barrel and gas prices are moving
along with it.

4. + 1,000 - I wrote to Scott Brown about that very fact
All I got back was a fresh load of shit about how we must protect the nation's economic health, too.

12. Scott Brown is after all is said and done....still a repub
He claims to be a moderate but still a repub.

From 2008 through 2010 we had full control of the legislative process.
I was hoping for a change in the formula for inflation adjustment for
the seniors. Now with house changing parties, forget about it.

13. I wrote to him
because he voted against the one-time $250 payout to retirees, etc. on Dec. 8th

I pointed out that he did a lot of campaigning in "senior territory", and now he was turngin his back on us. I realize he's an (R) but I want him to know that he'd better be ready to resume private life after 2012 if he keeps up with this nonsense.

5. Retired
Being on a fixed income, as prices rise, you buy less. We're driving less and have to watch fresh produce purchases. We're doing okay when the farmer's markets were still open. The decision to freeze payments based on a CPI that doesn't include food and energy is disingenuous.

8. Other.
With a 2 and a half trillion surplus he does not need to do anything to save it.
But what he cold do is make an executive order allowing anyone to buy into medicare regardless of age...making health care reform moot.

15. If he wants to be honest
he should hold a press conference and explain how the politicians have squandered the $2.5 trillion trust fund. Once we hear his explanation, then we can decide what to do. The thieves must explain their actions.

16. He should do nothing.
If he does nothing, the general fund will soon start redeeming the trust fund bonds, as planned for the past 30 years.
