1. He's already gotten a second chance... What is the question?
What second chance specifically should he get? Career Yup. Fame Yup. Freedom Yup. Money Yup. Family Yup.

The only thing he is not allowed is a dog which is a lifetime ban imposed by the court. What second chance are you thinking he deserves that he doesn't already have?

5. Of course he does. He served his time and he's doing is community service.
That doesn't mean his crime wasn't totally reprehensible. I wish he wouldn't gotten longer than 19 months, but he didn't and he served his time and his behavior has reportedly been good.

6. Of course....
....he did the crime, and according to this nation of laws "did the time". I think that what most naysayers are pissed about is that he went back to the lucrative career he had before. If he had been a welder, janitor, construction worker, etc., I think most here would probably be more forgiving. My opinion. Thanks.

12. nobody cares that he is black. what is upsetting a lot of people is the lionzing, idolizing, and
fawning that goes on over a person whose only positive trait seems to be handling a ball.

but I find it interesting that you conclude that everyone who despises, loathes or otherwise finds him a less-than-worthwhile person feels that way because he is black, when nobody has said anything of the kind, focusing, instead, on his actions.

20. People are lionizing, idolizing, and fawning? --- How do you guys come up with this stuff?
It has nothing to do with Vick and who he is. It's the sense that I get, that left in the hands of some here, the guy would be in danger of being murdered. Whether that be Michael Vick, Jessica Simpson, or Joe Everyguy, I tend to take the position that one needs to be protected from the horde. Especially after they've done their time as provided by our legal system.

32. People's anger of course HAS to be because he's black.
It could not possibly be because he's an SOB who is responsible for the torture, misery, and even death, of dozens of dogs.

As usual, race will trump anything.

Gee.......

19. I was saddened and enraged when I heard of what he had done.
But I will say that what he did is part of the culture of certain people. That is not an excuse but a reason. He is now working with Wayne Pacelle and the Humane Society of the United States and if they think he is rehabilitated that is good enough for me. I will add though that he should never be allowed to own another dog, he doesn't deserve it.

I understand what you say...but there's a bigger message here that WE NEED TO STAND UP TO...for FUTURE GENERATIONS!

Can you understand why some of us feel this is so important...that we don't want Vicks Ball Heroics to get in the way of what we want to impart as a message to "Future Generations?"

I don't really know many folks here who would sign onto that kind of torture that the Pics from ESPN and Other Reputuable Sites showed of those animals and the discriptions of the jeering and taunting and CRUELTY that was Exhibited by Vick and his ATHLETIC GAMERS were doing to MAKE MILLIONS OUT OF THE SUFFERING OF INNOCENT ANIMALS!

34. I voted "No" ..but I truly Believe Vick should have been Booted out of His Career...and made to
deal with those who have been indicted on much lesser offenses have had to SUFFER when they've had to "Serve Time."

I am hard on Vick because "Cruelty to Animals...get's onto Cruelty to Humans" and that it's possible that what Vick did he Might Do Again.

BUT...VICK GOT A "Pass" from our President who "singled him out" above other "felons" and so we will have to watch and be "very vigilent" with Vick.

BUT...should he have ever been able to "PLAY BALL AGAIN" for ANY MAJOR TEAM? NO....NO!!! NO!!!! NO!!!

He should have never been allowed to be seen as a "HERO" to the "Little Kids/Young Folks Viewers of Sports in America!"

MICHAEL VICK sends a HORRIBLE "ROLE MODEL EXAMPLES" to our KIDS, GRAND KIDS and EVEN THE REST OF ADULT AMERICA!

IMHO!

it leads me to believe that there is no hope in addressing anyone in America...since you hold the keys and do "thought police" to chide those who make a point that you just don't want to hear.

Peace to You in this Season...but...it's useless on deaf ears that anyone could wish you that. You just WOULDN'T BELIEVE IT! (you notice my use of FULL CAPS) ...but please don't discount my message to you: PEACE TO YOU IN THIS SEASON!

39. Some people never get to face justice......
so the fact that he did is good.
From all that I have seen, he did pay the price
that this society as a whole chose for him.

In fact, I do wish that the attitude prevalent here and other places
would have been the attitude of the last generation....
to not just seek out justice in a general way, but also specifically against
those who were not only cruel to animals but also those who used animals to cause
real harm to innocent people as well as to other animals.

Although some won't admit that there is still somewhat of a cultural divide
based on historical events in reference to the question on whether the life
of an animal is worth as much as that of a person, what Vick did was horrendously cruel......
and although he paid something for it, I gather there will always be those who will never
think he paid enough, and would prefer to see him burn in hell.

But, I am glad to see that most folks don't hold a grudge, and believe in redemption!
