Christine O'Donnell crazy statement on the investigation of misuse of campaign funds
Following reports earlier today that former senate candidate Christine O'Donnell was the target of a criminal probe into a misuse of campaign money, O'Donnell is firing back -- and if you were looking for patented O'Donnell crazy, she doesn't disappoint.

O'Donnell begins:

Since anonymous sources are being taken seriously, please allow me to share some tips I've received and keep the tipsters' identities anonymous. We've been warned by multiple high-ranking Democrat insiders that the Delaware Democrat and Republican political establishment is jointly planning to pull out all the stops to ensure I would never again upset the apple cart. Specifically they told me the plan was to crush me with investigations, lawsuits and false accusations so that my political reputation would become so toxic no one would ever get behind me.

I was warned by numerous sources that the DE political establishment is going to use every resource available to them. So given that the King of the Delaware Political Establishment just so happens to be the Vice President of the most liberal Presidential administration in U.S. history, it is no surprise that misuse and abuse of the FBI would not be off the table. And further connecting the dots, do you think it is just a coincidence that Melanie Sloan was a senior Biden staffer just before she joined CREW and filed her complaint against me?!

I have faith that our supporters and the general public will see right through these thug tactics. This is simply an Establishment trick to stop the anti-establishment Tea Party movement in its tracks. Heck, the Presidency is at stake in 2012.

Well, sure. The Vice President probably has a get-Christine war room set up at FBI headquarters.

And as for Melanie Sloan? She worked for the Senate Judiciary Committee when then-Senator Biden was its chairman ... seventeen years ago

2. Hey now, why would the Democratic Party want O'Donnell gone?
She handed us back Joe Biden's seat. We would be thrilled to have her wreck another line on the ballot two years from now.

The Refugnacious Party on the other hand has clear motive to do her wrong.

3. +1
I agree! It would seem obvious that the GOP in Delaware has infinitely more reasons to go after her than the Dems.

5. Notice how carefully she speaks- she is not actually SAYING these people are against her
Edited on Thu Dec-30-10 10:35 AM by old mark
she is implying it. She can later say, "no, I didn't say that, I was misinterpreted"...she must have a decent lawyer advising her...probably getting paid with some of that campaign money, too.

6. She is delusional -
In the first place, there is NO reason for the Democrats to be the least concerned about her. Coons beat her in a landslide, though Castle might have defeated him. She HELPED the Democrats win a seat that CW said they would lose.

I could believe the Republican establishment is none too happy about her, but it is highly likely that they know that her actions in the election alone make her not a serious candidate going forward.

8. More crazy = more attention. She's not looking to get elected to anything...she wants
to follow in Palin's footsteps and make bank by talking to small hardcore audiences that think obama is a Kenyan marxist and that liberals want to destroy the country through entitlements, income redistribution, cap and trade, teleprompters, and apology tours. And it will work.

11. Running for office
Edited on Fri Dec-31-10 06:32 AM by quaker bill
When you choose to run for office, in most cases you can count on one thing. You will have an opponent. This opponent will not like you and in the best scenario will do every thing legally tenable to beat you. In the worst scenario they will stretch the bounds of legality or even violate the law or ethics to beat you. There is but one defense, run a very clean operation, if it is questionable, don't do it, don't say it, and promptly fire anyone who does.

If you want to saddle up and do this thing, do not count on any sense of fairness, because no one will offer it. Count on every word being used as negatively as possible, count on the press getting the quotes wrong or just making stuff up. This is the nature of the game, it is played for keeps.

Yes, Christine, they will in fact send you to jail if they can find a way to do it. This is why you never run for office and leave yourself open to such potential charges.
