Hillary contradicts the White House. Again.
Clinton is again at odds with W.H.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton declined Monday to give a date for Egypt to lift its emergency law, even though the White House has demanded that the restriction be ended “immediately.”

Clinton’s position, stated in an interview, puts her slightly at odds once again with the public stance expressed by the White House on Egypt.

She told Al Jazeera on Monday that it wasn’t her job to “counsel” Egypt’s army, and she refused to say when the military should reverse a law that lets them arrest Egyptians without charging them.

1. There is no contradiction here. Or I don't see it.
HRC doesn't give a response...while the WH didn't give a specific date either. Looks like they're playing by ear until everything is a bit more settled.

4. You do have a meme going on, don't you?
Edited on Tue Feb-15-11 09:32 AM by Beacool
Find any article that may show a vestige of a crack of light between the WH and State and run to post it.

:eyes:

Furthermore, I see nothing wrong with this remark:

“I’m not going to substitute my judgment sitting here in the very beautiful comfort of the State Department for what is going on in Egypt right now,” she said. “I think it’s important that the United States and others who wish to see a positive outcome of this struggle by the Egyptian people to achieve their own democracy be supportive, but don’t pretend that we know more than what the people in Egypt know.”

6. So you reach to Politico to paint Sec Clinton in a bad light.
What you seem to miss is that any President who would allow for insubordination at high levels in the administration is himself at fault.
I do not agree with the OP and Politico that Obama is letting himself be undermined from within. I find the suggestion to be an invalid criticism of the President.

15. Who pays you to post this junk?
I mean really. This is the second post I've seen from you in the same vane. What's up with the Hillary bashing? She doesn't make policy, that's one of the President's responsibilities. That is of course based on the WH staff recommendations and input from State, DOD and CIA.

As far as I could tell, the whole middle east revolution caught everyone off guard. The WH was treading on thin ice because they had little idea on which why this was going. State was scrambling to find consensus for the WH's policy. The DOD was talking to the Egyptian generals. The CIA was doing what they always do.

By the way, Wiser was sent by the WH, not State, to personally deliver the President's message to Mubarak. Did Wiser go off message? I don't think so. He gave the WH, State, DOD, CIA and the Egyptian Army time to sort things out.

I'd be interested in what that message was. As Wiser is a connector for TPTB. All the while, the WH was talking in support of de-escalation of the violence and State was talking the legitimate rights of the Egyptian People.

Last time there was a power vacuum, we wound up with Revolutionary Guards in charge of Iran and that hasn't worked out all that well for the a whole lot of reasons. The President at that time was Mr. Carter. I would bet the WH had nightmares about those possibilities.

I think the SOS did the job she was required to do. As far as the WH goes, it looks like the staff is trying to cover their collective ass. Which may be why they are leaking misleading stories like this one.

I guess I've answered my own question.

someone stick up for Hillary around here. I was hoping thinking changed since 2008...but I see a lot of people are still critical of Hillary in spite of the excellent job she has done since becoming SOS.

25. Give her her due.
She is effective in her position and it shows.

I think there is a lot of buyer's remorse out there.

Too late now.

The invective continues among a few. It really is a sad commentary on their part.
