That fucker had intelligence gift wrapped for him in the 8/6/01 PDB and chose to ignore it. He was totally fucking condescending and snippy about it too:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/06/19/AR2006061901211.html
The book's opening anecdote tells of an unnamed CIA briefer who flew to Bush's Texas ranch during the scary summer of 2001, amid a flurry of reports of a pending al-Qaeda attack, to call the president's attention personally to the now-famous Aug. 6, 2001, memo titled "Bin Ladin Determined to Strike in US." Bush reportedly heard the briefer out and replied: "All right. You've covered your ass, now."

9/11 doesn't happen if Bush isn't the President. Any halfway competent, caring individual listens to that and orders the tightening of airport security and had the CIA dig up any specific leads they have, possibly cross reference them with FBI reports on the matter. They don't just say, "you covered your ass" and go back to what seemed like a near decade long vacation at the Crawford Ranch.

He didn't give a fuck. He deserves nothing. He's lucky we don't prosecute his ass for war crimes. If he wants thanks, he should be getting them in letter form from his fanatical Fox News loving friends as he sits the rest of his life behind bars.

He's all over Youtube saying as much. He wasn't truly that concerned after all.

This turd deserves none of our praise.

2. It's way worse than that. Tenet, himself, made an unscheduled visit to Crawford in mid-August to

follow-up on the 08/06 PDB. Bush was given the option to "roll-up" the al-Qaeda attack cells the CIA and White House knew were poised to strike inside the US, but Bush refused to do so.

After 9/11 happened, to no one's surprise, Tenet fell on the sword and kept his mouth shut about the extent of the information that the President had been given about the attack plans. The CIA Director even publicly perjured himself infront of the 9/11 Commission about that, and claimed he had no communication with Bush in the 30 days before the attack. When some reporters found public records showing at least half a dozen meetings, the CIA claimed that Tenet had "misspoken" and the matter was dropped and has been all but ignored.

Some of this is covered in Tenet's 2007 autobiography. See, http://journals.democraticunderground.com/leveymg/258

3. Not true -- he also gets credit for:
letting OBL get away more than once;
screwing up the intervention in Pakistan;
an illegal invasion of Iraq;
crimes against humanity in the forms of illegal detentions and torture;
inducing fear in the populace for base political purposes;
lying to the American people about all of the above; and
being a general, all-around scumbag.

And, of course, much, much more.

So see, it's untrue that he gets "credit" for only one thing.

4. None of those things happen if not for 9/11.
Seems to me pinning him with the biggest offense of them all ties him to everything afterward by default.
