Huckabee OUT FOR 2012
Edited on Sat May-14-11 08:06 PM by aaaaaa5a
He finally gave his decision.

Everybody is running from Obama!

I believe that a persons actions are always the best judge of who a person is and what they think.

So, lets look at the actions of the GOP's best candidates.

Huckabee…. OUT

Christie….. OUT

Barber….. OUT

Daniels…. WAFFLING

What does this tell you? It says that despite all of the doom and gloom they know Obama is nearly impossible to beat in 2012. It is better for them politically to wait until 2016. Haley Barber even came out and "SPECIFICALLY" said this was the reason he was not running. Lets be honest, all them WANT to be President. If Huckabee thought he had a legit chance to beat Obama, he would have been running in a heart beat. Remember, these potential candidates are "privy" to more information than we are. And their "actions" demonstrate the real power we will have in 2012….. DESPITE what their words keep saying.

Actions speak louder than words.

3. Tiny Tim Pawlenty will get the nomination now
Edited on Sat May-14-11 08:20 PM by Vicar In A Tutu
He's both relatively inoffensive to the religious right and moderate enough for the slightly less wacky Republicans. He'll win by being crazier than Huntsman, less floppy than Romney and more viable than The Palingrich. The path is clear for him now to step forth and collect his 100-odd electoral votes in November of next year.

14. Probably wherever Newt falls!
And, coincidentally, when friends of ours told us it would be helpful to train our dog to go to the bathroom on command about 12 years ago, we used the word "Newt" so whenever we wanted her to do her thing, we'd say, "Newt" and she'd take a dump!

12. Timmy the Tool has a lot of baggage.
He's about as popular in his home state as an inflamed hemorrhoid, having managed to turn a successful, prosperous state into a cold Mississippi -- what with those collapsing bridges and underfunded schools. And he is one of the most boring speakers you will ever encounter. He's almost as exciting as your junior high school assistant principal, which is what he can't help reminding everybody of.

15. Yes, but consider who will be voting for him.
Edited on Sat May-14-11 10:14 PM by Vicar In A Tutu
To the average GOOP voter, defunding a state and ensuring important public services crumble is considered a fine achievement, a badge of honour if you will. His wishy-washy, drab persona will help him in the current field. He's not as moderate as Huntsman or as crazy as most or seen by the GOOP faithful as being as much of a flip flopper as Romney.

He'll secure their nomination and then get trounced in November 2012. In a reasonable country, he'd end up with fewer electoral votes than Walter Mondale, but we know that he's getting around a 100 or so no matter what.

Despite what some may say If Obama was so easy to beat why Is It May and we still don't get much for major contenders on the GOP
side.

16. Actually, I don't think they all WANT to be president
Campaigning is a bitch, being president is hard work, and the money doesn't compare to being a lobbyist or a talk show host. Most republican candidates aren't really driven, as they know there are easier, more lucrative paths out there. That could be why the party ends up with figurehead presidents like GW Bush or Ronald Reagan.

The republican party has to beg presentable people to run and they usually get turned down. Whats left over are the nutjobs and weirdos. That's why they had to hire an actor to do the job in 1980.

Since Ike, every elected Republican president has had a legacy tainted with scandal, incompetence, and crushing debt.

Sadly many old-time republicans still think there may be some Ikes left in the party, but all the sane, competent ones are long gone.

18. Obama will break a new record in 2012
Edited on Sun May-15-11 12:41 AM by golfguru
No president was ever re-elected with unemployment over 8%.
Obama will break that record in 2012, and win. All records
are meant to be broken.

27. Not true, of course. FDR was reelected twice with unemployment far higher than 8%.
There hasn't been a presidential election since 1940 at a time when unemployment was 8%, so the last president to lose a reelection bid was over 8% was Herbert Hoover.

29. I wonder why he decided not to run
I guess this is like 1992 and 2004 when heavyweights didn't run because they thought the incumbent would be reelected. Hopefully this election turns out more like 2004 in that sense than 1992.
