Corwin Seeks to Bar Certification of Winner

Jane Corwin (R) obtained a court order this afternoon barring the certification of a winner in today's special election in New York's 26th congressional district, the Buffalo News reports. Voting doesn't even end until 9 pm ET tonight.

The judge also impounded all voting equipment and enjoined the canvass of paper ballots "except as directed by this court" and "temporarily enjoined and restrained from certifying" the winner pending that court hearing.

Said a Corwin spokesman: "We recognize the closeness of the race and we want to make sure that every legal vote is counted fairly and accurately

1. Already a sore loser
They pubs know how embarassing a win for a Democrat will be in that district so they're already looking to delegitimize it. Pathetic.

2. Frankly, it has been expected. Still sucks but expected
Oddly enough, the fear from Corwin appears to be more centered around Jack Davis, the Tea Partier, that Hochul. The Republican and Tea Party nominees have not played nice in this election.

7. Fyi, in NY the Supreme Court is the lowest court in the court system.
Weird, I know. There are Supreme Courts for each county. The next courts up are the Appellate Divisions, of which there are four. The highest court in New York is the Court of Appeals. I'm sure this order will be subject to an appeal up the chain, if necessary.

Funny, I and many others have never heard of it.

14. Hopefully, it isnt close so there wont be any need for a recount...
I wonder how close it needs to be to justify a recount.

16. Usually under 1.5% or so.
I heard a few days ago that the Democratic candidate had been about six points ahead of the Republican.

Sounds like very sour grapes. But maybe by holding everything up, the Republicans can manipulate the data cards or optic scan cards into her favor.
