Senate votes today on Coburn's amendment to eliminate ethanol subsidy
Reid is not happy Coburn circumvented the process so they're whipping Dems to vote no, altho Senator Diane Feinstein is a cosponsor of Coburn's amendment and spoke this morning in support of Coburn's amendment. Good for her.

It is not expected to receive the 60 votes it requires to pass. Saxby Chambliss is urging an up or down vote.

Grover Norquist is against Coburn's amendment because the savings from eliminating the ethanol subsidies will be used to pay down the debt. Grover Norquist is really the most powerful man in Washington who's not a member of Congress.

5. Thune has an alternative amendment cosponsored by Amy Klobuchar. Feinstein has asked Coburn to

delay a vote because of hard feelings about how Coburn got this vote to the floor. Coburn doesn't seem to want to comply blaming the lack of an open amendment process.

7. Feinstein ended up voting now since Coburn would not delay his amendment until next week
Bill will obviously not get the 60 cloture votes.
