3. Form The "Idea Party"......
Here's a post from the other day that made perfect sense to me: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x2028216

We need to get some organizational backing like the Tea Pary has with Americans For Prosperity to embrace the Occupy Wall Street mission and elevate it into a political movement.

If there are people that are frustrated with President Obama and asked for a Progressive primary challenge of him - the concept of an IDEA Party - might just be the thing that is needed to pull him back to center or left of center.

One other thing I read this morning on this board - is that Occupy Wall Street needs to expand its reach in D.C. to Occupy K Street. We need to stop the big money lobbyists and put the lobbying back where it should be - with the people.

4. i don't think so

the whole idea is that the movement is NOT going to fall into our usual paradigm or structure...it's all new.

and frankly, the election is too far away ...right NOW is where this movement is aimed. we cannot afford to struggle till 2012 or 2013 to act, this is a call for IMMEDIATE shift, and it *is* coming...but we don;t know how it looks yet. let it build, spot on.

6. I Agree - The Time For Change Is Now - But Is That Realistic?......
what do you really expect to happen - without the support of anyone in Congress to help the OWS'ers out?

Look at the early days of the so-called Tea Party. Now I know that they were being covertly backed by AFP - but it took that to get the Tea Party on the map. Remember those pictures outside the Capitol Building. Remember the signs they held? Remember the Repug Congressmen/women waving "Don't Thread On Me" flags in their support.

I would really hope that OWS takes off and effects change sooner rather than later - but I'm afraid without some organizational or congressional support - it will just flounder.

I remember the demonstrations and marches being conducted all around the country during the waning days of Bush's Presidency. They didn't get a lot of MSM coverage. I think I taped some of them and was astounded by the participation of the people. Though they didn't get quite the coverage that one would have anticipated given the numbers of people that participated - I believe that they were the catalyst that sparked the Obama campaign and got the Dems back into office.

The Tea Party got more coverage in its early days and continues to get more coverage now. I believe that this is because they had the backing of AFP and their money and organizational support.

I want OWS to succeed as much as anyone here does - but I fear that without better organization - that their efforts might fall on a deaf ear. I'm glad the unions are getting behind them. I really think that OWS needs more of that type of support to sustain their efforts. However, any change that they might effect - in harsh reality - won't come before the 2012 election is held and in the bag. You don't really think that Wall St. and the Banksters are just going to give in and concede to this movement on their own - do you?

7. Of course it's not realistic...but nothing pragmatic or realistic in its infancy has ever changed
the powers that be. The Teabaggers get more coverage because their well heeled financiers own a lot of media clout. We had anti-war rallies five times as big with little or no mention.

We don't need to be like them. We need us to be like us.

Viva!!!
