Brilliant! Obama throws Reagan quote out there
Just tweeted (Obama's speech in Dallas)

Obama: "I agree w/ Ronald Reagan that its crazy that a bus driver pays higher taxes than a millionaire b/c of some loophole in the tax code"

1. He's boxing in the GOP
They're opposing their beloved St. Ronnie!

Of course, this is the kind of strategy that's misinterpreted by some of the Left as "worshipping Reagan". Good grief.

3. Nothing is more frustrating
that using someone's own words/doctrines against them.

The combacks always tend to fall flat.

6. He really should keep invoking Reagan.

Seriously, the right will go apoplectic trying to come up with talking points.

I would LOVE Obama to start talking about bringing tax rates back from the 'Golden Age' of Reagan.

"If it was good enough for Reagan, it's good enough for me."

That would be such a perfect line.

7. I know that this may be a strange question
but has any Republican even mentioned Reagan much in the past few years (other than when he passed away)?

10. If I'm not mistaken,
several have invoked him at the several recent 'performances' at the reagan center; Nancy's been at them.

13. I wonder how they keep all that cognitive dissonance from short-circuiting their brains
Based on their rhetoric, I'm not even sure Reagan would be electable.

12. I think that's part of the point.
Reagan and his governance had been held up by the GOP as the gold standard of modern Republicanism, or at least until recently. They wanted him on Rushmore and on currency. He did no wrong as far as they were concerned

What is this Tea-Party infused GOP in comparison?

I think it's great strategy to exploit the divide between Reagan and today's incarnation of the Republican party.

18. Brilliance over fundamentals?
Just my opinion: Momentary brilliance and gamesmanship are never a good substitute for sound political fundamentals. Its like shopping for fancy hubcaps while never bothering to check your oil.

19. Sucking up to Reagan the way he does isn't brilliant. It's sickening
and it's nothing more than kissing up to Republicans with grand illusions that they'll start liking him more for it and working with him....which they won't, as they've already proven time and time again. Personally, I think Obama should quote me next time he feels like mentioning Reagan and tell everyone Ronald Reagan was an over-rated president if ever there was one and a neocon asshole.

20. it's not sucking up. geeze
nor kissing up to republicans.

His message is clear if one would only take the 'everything Obama says, does, thinks is Shit!, cotton out of ones ears) - even the exalted Ronny, (who was a dirt bag republican) had some reasonableness when it came to taxes (or he said it but didn't really believe it).

Obama is talking to Republicans just to point out how Crazy this crop in Congress and the Senate are compared to the nutter Raegan.
