ESPN permanetly dumps Hank Williams, Jr.
Hank Williams Jr. Ditched By ESPN Over Obama Hitler

Having pulled his iconic Monday Night Football introduction song following his comments on Fox News comparing President Obama to Hitler on Monday, ESPN has announced that they are terminating their relationship with the country star permanently.

"We have decided to part ways with Hank Williams, Jr. We appreciate his contributions over the past years," the company said in a statement. "The success of Monday Night Football has always been about the games and that will continue."

Williams, however, claims it was his choice to leave, writing on his website:

"After reading hundreds of e-mails, I have made MY decision. By pulling my opening Oct 3rd, You (ESPN) stepped on the Toes of The First Amendment Freedom of Speech, so therefore Me, My Song, and All My Rowdy Friends are OUT OF HERE. It’s been a great run."

14. You have freedom of speech but not a freedom of ...
... consequences from what you say. Nobody is going to arrest him from what he said but ESPN has
the right to fire his ass.

"I am very sorry if it offended anyone." Hank Williams Jr.

21. The NFL is a multi billion $ business and if you are ....
.... somehow part of it (the biz of the NFL) comparing and African American President to Hitler
you can expect to be fired. Almost 70% of the players in the NFL are black and it took ABC
half a second to fire Rush from Monday Night Football when he went and made up a racist lie
about an African American player.

Funny the same people who talk about "the free market" now will see the firing of Williams
as stopping free speech.

Four score and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth on this continent a new...E S P N....???

The idiot is confusing ESPN with the Gubmint of the Yooo Nattid States! USA has no problem with him shooting his mouth off all the live-long day, but the people who contracted to use his lousy song do not have to listen to his shit--either his opinions, OR his lousy music.

9. You have freedom of speech, dumb ass. No one's arrested you, have they? It's just this -- words
have consequences. If my teenager mouths off at me, there are consequences. If you scream "fire" in a crowded theater, there are consequences. If you go into a bank and say, "This is a stick up" as joke, you'll still get arrested. You compare the POTUS to Hitler on TV, you will probably get FIRED from you TV job. Dumb ass. BUT...the good news is that you can compare Obama to the devil himself if you want to...all day long...to ALL your "Rowdy Friends". I'm sure their happy to listen to your uneducated crap. But we don't have to listen to it on TV anymore, and that's a good thing. What a stupid, stupid man you are!!!!

10. Watch him use this as political fodder
Williams is rumored to be considering tossing his bombastic hat into the ring for U.S. Senator from Tennessee. If so, look for him to use this incident to score points, deriding the "establishment media" for quashing the free expression of a "good ole down home red, white & blue country boy patriot". Get ready for stuff like -- "they pushed me too far this time", so "y'all vote for me and I'll go kick some butt in DC". In truth, he would be doing more in the way of kissing butt by doing the bidding of Wall St and mega billionaires (he won't include that part). What's a washed up has-been singer to do? One thing's certain -- Williams is a disgrace to his father's name.

55. Good for ESPN, but I'm not satisfied yet.
Everybody is upset that williams compared Obama to Hitler, but I was personally more bothered by the statement he made about the President and Vice President being the "enemy". Some nut is going to hear a comment like that and start listening to those voices in his or her head. I think the Secret Service needs to pay a visit to Mr. Williams and find out exactly who he believes President Obama and Vice President Biden are the enemy of. Those can be very harmful words that spilled out of the cesspool Mr. Williams calls his mouth. As I've explained to my children, and someone should explain to Mr. Williams, with freedom comes responsibility - you can't say crap like that on national television. It's way more that disrespectful, it's potentially dangerous.

56. INVITATION TO WALL STREET -- for Saturday at 11 AM at Liberty Park @ Red Cube corner
Please assemble peacefully at 140 Broadway.

A company such as Apple or General Motors or the old Ben & Jerrys has a responsibility to act in a responsible manner. Profit is not bad, but adding social justice makes these organizations much better.

The companies of Financial Capitalism are different. The crimes of their employees are what produced the Great Recession of 2008 and massive unemployment. They also took trillions of dollars from retirement funds and from other small investors.

Prosecute Wall Street's criminals. Fraud is still fraud. Banking regulations cannot to cited to usurp the general protections of the Common Law.

No one ever thought of prosecuting Steve Job for anything. He was not a criminal. He was a good man. Steve Jobs would not have been a success on today's Wall Street. "We Are The 1%" was not his motto.

"Think different" about sums it up.

-- DU members are all invited to come to the Occupy Wall Street site on Saturday, October 8th at 11 AM

-- Please assemble peacefully at the Red Cube at 140 Broadway, at the corner of Broadway and Liberty Street

-- A speaker from OWS will greet everyone from DU. A statement of purpose and an invitation to support OWS will be presented.

That site can accommodate 250 DU members and their friends easily. As many as 1,000 extra people connected to DU can be accommodated directly with OWS plans for Saturday afternoon.

Freely exercise your freedom of speech and of the press; and the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Please, feel free to do all of this with Occupy Wall Street.
