Asshole alert: Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA): "Thank God" Elizabeth Warren didn't pose nude like I did!
Edited on Thu Oct-06-11 10:15 AM by Pirate Smile
Scott Brown Replies To Warren: ‘Thank God’ She Didn’t Take Her Clothes Off (AUDIO)

Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) was interviewed on a local talk radio show Thursday morning. And he had an interesting response to a recent line from Democratic frontrunner Elizabeth Warren.

At a Democratic primary debate this week, Warren was asked how she paid for college — in contrast to Brown having posed nude for Cosmopolitan. “I kept my clothes on,” Warren replied. “I borrowed money.”

This morning, one of the hosts asked Brown: “Have you officially responded to Elizabeth Warren’s comment about how she didn’t take her clothes off?”

Brown began laughing lightheartedly, and gave his reply. “Thank God,” he said, with more laughter.

1. Moron. But it will only make kicking him out of his seat easier.

This said, there is very little to win to spend time on this centerfold story. It is fun to do on boards, but he is right that he did what he had to do to pay for his studies.

We should be better than the GOP is.

15. I just finished reading what he said. He is implying she went to Harvard,
while in fact, he went to schools that are a lot more prestigious than she did (Tufts and BC). Total moron.

26. Not 100% true
He used the money to pay for law school, not his undergraduate school. The economic times were better then than now and a Tufts graduate would have been able to get a job to save for law school.

Admittedly, he would have to live at a lower level - no studio 54, less likely to meet models etc - but definitely not the poverty he seems to be speaking of.

29. Yes, but he was doing at 20 is of no importance in this race. His political positions are the issue
Edited on Thu Oct-06-11 07:37 PM by Mass
(or at least this is as it should be, given the double standard for women).

This said, the door was opened by a Republican operative who asked the question and I was certain it was a planted question. So, thanks to Scott Brown to make the issue inexistant. Even WBZ seemed to think he was wrong, and they tend to like him a lot.

33. Completely agree
BUT, it is a measure of character and of maturity that you can accept the past as what it was - taking responsibility for it. What seems clear from his babbling is that he obviously thinks it was wrong (or he would not have had to make excuses.)

My point was that, at that point in his life, had he been willing to take the more boring, less interesting, way out, he could have gotten his law degree. Maybe ending in debt and very likely having to watch his pennies. Posing nude obviously did not bother him enough to turn down the offer. It kind of seems that at that time, he might have been like a moth to a flame - wanting the fast life.

2. THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!!! PRAISE ALLAH!!
See, the tone deaf fucker doesn't "get" it--EW didn't say "Scott Brown has a hideous body" (despite the fact that he's no Joe Six Pack, and covered with what looks like cat fur) when she said "I kept my clothes on."

What she said was "His conduct was somewhat unseemly, and I would not have been comfortable exhibiting myself in that fashion for college cash."

How does he reply? "Waaaah, she would have been UGLY TO LOOK AT!!!"

That's the essence of the whole back-n-forth.

His mouth must be bigger than we thought, to be able to fit BOTH FEET in it like that!

God, stupidity IS its own punishment. Dumb as a box of rocks, that one!

5. Funny thing is I think her response would have been "thank God" too.
Two people say it and it has completely different meanings.

She has to watch out though. She is beginning to look kind of like a hectoring wife or mother. Men can't handle that in their female politicians.

16. Her delivery was pitch-perfect. It wasn't finger wagging, it wasn't
morality-laden, it was just ... plain. Kind of flat and direct, but not mean--kind of wry.

No hectoring wife/mother in that comment the way she spoke it, at all. Really. It was more like "Well, if that's all the idiot can do to make a buck..."

For the MA audience, it was perfection.

Scotty Boy comes off as meanspirited and personal with his "lighthearted" retort. See, she didn't say anything about HIM. She spoke about what SHE would not do. He could only reply by insulting her.

17. Some of her other stuff, the "no one made it on their own" speech comes to mind.
I think Hillary learned how to get the point across without going there. More cool humor.

25. It's more of an observation on male voters I think.
That is why Scott Brown can post the same clip and send it to his supporters.

Rachel Maddow mentioned this...about Rorschach tests.

18. But what he really meant when he said "Thank God"
was "Thank God she doesn't have any nude photos or I would be dead meat in the election as more men would then vote for her."

19. Someone should ask Brown if he feels good about the fact that, in the 21st Century
Edited on Thu Oct-06-11 12:14 PM by EffieBlack
a man who posed nude in college could be elected to the U.S. Senate while a woman who did the same could not even think of having a career in politics.

And then ask him what HE is doing to eliminate that double standard.

23. The same guy who boasted on election night how his daughter was available?
I won't be surprised in Oct. 2012 when a female former staffer/classmate/whoever accuses Brown of sexual harassment. Way to lose the woman vote right there. It's bad enough with all the misogynistic and pro-male policies of Republicans.

36. I think she could raise millions of dollars with a bathing suit calendar for 2012.
You know, how the firefighters years ago raised money by posing for a calendar.
She could do a calendar like that, with her posing for one of the months, and then getting other women who are Democrats to pose for the other months.
