Anyone see Rick Perry on CNN just now (7:30am est)
Edited on Fri Oct-14-11 06:33 AM by mdmc
He tried to side step anti-mormon comments that a supporter made. He ended up supporting free speech and, as he finished talking, ended by stating that he opposed the anti-mormon comments.
..
on edit -
he tried so hard to avoid disavowing these comments, yet he couldn't stay the course..

1. I don't think it was so clear he did disavow the comments
seems like he went back and forth to me...

3. true
but his words "and this is the case here" suggested to me that the legal (under the first amendment) anti-mormon speech was not supported by Perry.

I guess it was pretty nuanced

2. He did the same shtik on GMA. Addressed free speech when the
question was about condemnation of remarks. You can have free speech with criticism.
