4. They are the heirs of the John Birch Society
Edited on Sat Oct-15-11 10:55 AM by Nancy Waterman
and first cousins to the KKK.

From Wikipedia about the John Birch Society:

The society upholds an originalist interpretation of the U.S. Constitution, which it identifies with fundamentalist Christian principles. It seeks to limit the powers of government and opposes wealth redistribution, economic interventionism. It opposes what it describes as collectivism and Totalitarianism, particularly communism, but also socialism and fascism which it claims are inflitrating into the US administration.

Sound familiar?

7. Malcolm?
Because he was a Muslim?

The Panthers were probably Christian and they carried guns. It seems like the tea baggers have a lot in common with the Panthers.

But, they also perceived DR. King, as well as ALL other civil rights leaders, as radical.

27. No way
Forrest came around at the end of his life. He gave a civil rights speech in 1875 that called for full social equality for freed slaves. The guy had many faults, but there's no need to lump him in with the willfully stupid.

14. Well, their hero Raygun believed King was a communist and didn't want a holiday for him
And even if we just completely know race, these people obviously don't have a fucking clue what else Dr. King stood for... Peace, equality, and social justice. He was so far from the Tea-Nut crowd, it's unbelievable they would even try and associate with him.

16. They spit on John Lewis and then say they are with MLK?
Really? King was anti-Vietnam and was trying to organize a general Poor People's march at the time of his death. I am sure the Tea Party would have been all over that.

21. I have no problem....
saying that Malcolm X said and did inspiring things. As for the Black Panthers, they also did a lot of good. I don't know why the right always wants to paint these guys as "bad guys".

Did Malcolm X say controversial things...yes...did he also say very inspiring and true things...yes. Same for King and the black panthers.

22. Those pig teabaggers
Sprang from the fevered collective mind of the Koch brothers. They are the definition of astroturf!

The only legitimate lineage of those brown shirt bastards starts at Adolf Hitler, runs through the KKK and white citizens councils and ends with the damned Koch brothers!
