Pew: Republican Candidates getting more favorable coverage than Pres. Obama
A good study to cite the next time you hear some right-winger complain about the "lame stream media" being in the tank for the President.

From http://dyn.politico.com/printstory.cfm?uuid=B35AA0AB-8399-402E-A5DE-ABE6933481BC|Politico>:

...a study by the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism finds that, in the past five months, the reverse has actually been true: Obama has received the most unremittingly negative press of any of the presidential candidates by a wide margin, with negative assessments outweighing positive ones by four to one.

Pew found that just 9 percent of the president’s coverage was positive, while 34 percent was negative — a stark contrast to the 32 percent positive coverage and 20 percent negative that it found Texas Gov. Rick Perry, the most covered Republican, received.

“His coverage has been substantially more negative in every one of the last 23 weeks of the last five months — even the week that Bin Laden was killed,” Tom Rosenstiel, director of the Project for Excellence in Journalism, said of the president’s treatment in the media compared with that of the GOP field.

The Pew study analyzed daily coverage in more than 11,500 news outlets — including news websites and transcripts of radio and television broadcasts, at both the local and national levels — as well as hundreds of thousands of blogs.

4. Most of us knew that the Media have beeing doing the GOP's bid.
It is sweet indeed to have a research firm validate
our observations.

6. And yet Obama's poll numbers are in the mid to high 40s and low 50s in some places
Which tells me they're probably higher than that. I think the American people can see the bullshit from the M$M.

7. And what about the Debt Ceiling Capitulation could been reported as positive?
Edited on Mon Oct-17-11 12:34 PM by MrTriumph
Let's see, after endless courting, the R's reject every proposal made by Pres. Obama. Then the President utterly & absolutely capitualtes. What good was there to report? Oh, that Pres. Obama makes good speeches?

8. So
"Let's see, after endless courting, the R's reject every proposal made by Pres. Obama. Then the President utterly & absolutely capitualtes. What good was there to report? Oh, that Pres. Obama makes good speeches?"

...are you for Republicans getting more positive press than the President? Is that why you're objecting to the OP?

10. It is viceral ...
Just painful how negative the press is with him, and despite the drumbeat here even, he is doing a solid job under pretty bad circumstances.

It fits the MSM general narratives - always negatively frame Ds, find a way to spin the Rs positively.

All during Bush's first term, his negatives were ALWAYS framed positively - resolute as opposed to stubborn and unyielding, a GUT KIND OF GUY instead of a simple minded fool, you at least know here he stands vs his pushing a right wing agenda despite what the country really wanted ...

The inverse has been true with Obama - there is ALWAYS a negative frame.

I really started to clue into politics during the Clinton years, and it has been that way since then. The BIZARRE negative frames of Gore, Kerry, Dean, Clinton until Obama had beat in the primary vs the way the propped up Jr. and TRIED to prop up McCain ...
