Was Romney Trying To Show His Alpha Male Dominance over Perry
when he put his hand on his shoulder in attempt to silence Perry? I tend to think that uninvited physical contact can be seen as a dominance move. In Sunday's 49ers/Lions game, Harbaugh accentuated his team's win over the Lions with a more than firm handshake and a rather rough pat on the back.

I do feel that when people initiate unwanted, uninvited physical contact, such as these, they are indeed trying to show their dominance over you.

2. It was clearly a gesture of dominance
and Romney knew exactly what he was doing there. He has probably practiced it. Perry uses gestures of dominance too, such as when he pokes someone in the chest with his finger.

3. If he was, he succeeded
Whether it was the hand on the shoulder or just out-talking him, which then allowed him to get in that jibe about Perry's debate performances, Mitt basically took Perry down a peg or two, and you could see it in his eyes that he was pissed about it.
