Extra Bonus Quote of the Day

"I'm going to wait until everybody's voted off the island. Once they narrow it down to one or two, I'll start paying attention."

-- President Obama, telling Jay Leno why he's not watching the Republican presidential debates.

10. This is the first Repub debates that I have been able to watch.
Found it quite entertaining. The stupidity is so abundant I am looking forward to seeing any one of them debate Obama.

2. I don't know....
maybe if our president took a bit of time to listen to what these yahoos are actually saying, to see what passes these days for GOP "ideas" and "leadership"--and the response of the hard-line audience (booing soldiers, applauding the idea of letting people die for lack of health care, etc. etc.) maybe he would finally give up the idea of trying to compromise with these geeks.

Just saying...

4. nah...he starts attacking every single candidate now, on every single issue
it would not play well at all. It would create an image of Obama this is negative, petty and frantic.

Smart move to let them eat their own first and see which cannibal survives to be neatly skewered..

5. I suspect he knows exactly what they're all saying and this is simply a way of....
insulting them. Do you really think he doesn't know what the GOP candidates are promoting? By responding like this he's dismissing ALL of them as unworthy of holding the office.

6. He has spoken about the crowds booing soldiers and all that already.
So he is obviously aware of it. He just isn't going to start the fight with the GOP contenders prematurely. He is letting them have their primary. Aside from that, these aren't the people he is negotiating with anyway. Michelle Bachmann and Ron Paul are the only current congress critters that are running and neither of them are in the Congressional or Senate GOP leadership.

14. I guarantee that he is watching and listening.
Taking notes.

Whoever manages to scramble their way to the top of the Republican heap is going to come out on top with a fresh new set of claws waiting...

11. I think the president stopped short of calling all of them yahoos
he instead use eloquence to describe them as being on an island because to be fair
that is where they seem to be, far from reality.
