1. Yeah, being on Harvard Law Review makes one delusional about being smart.
And yes, Obama WAS privileged -- to be the son of Stanley Ann Dunham, and the grandson of her parents. And privileged to be married to Michele Robinson Obama.

Me thinks Perry's N***ggerhead rock was sanctioned and approved by him.....just waiting for him to call President Obama the N name....

3. There is a truly bizarre pattern where there is this fictional childhood that Republicans have
imagined as Barack Obama's life.

He was either in Kenya soaking up Mao Mao socialist hatred of whites or an elitist, privileged, snob living a life of luxury.

They seem to be able to think both are true.

A sociologist should do a study because it is truly bizarre.

4. I've lived on the same block he grew up on
There is nothing about that block that screams privilege. True, he lived in the nicest building on the block, but it was not that nice. I live in a similar type residence now and my home is nothing to brag about.

9. Article on this: Perry: Obama Had 'Privileged' Upbringing
Perry: Obama Had 'Privileged' Upbringing
President thinks he’s “smartest guy in the room,” Perry says.

Rick Perry said on Wednesday that President Obama doesn’t understand the plight of Americans because he grew up “privileged” and “never had to work for anything.”

The Texas governor, one of many Republicans who has accused the president of calling his fellow citizens “lazy” after the president told CEOs over the weekend that Americans have “been a little bit lazy” about selling the country as a place for foreign investment, elaborated on his view in an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News.

"He grew up in a privileged way,” Perry said.“He never had to really work for anything, he never had to really work for anything, he never had to go through what Americans are going through," Perry added, theorizing that Obama’s upbringing is what distances him Americans.
"This president has never felt that angst that they felt in their heart."

Obama, whose family was abandoned by his father when he was young, was brought up by his mother and grandparents, none of whom were wealthy. He attended the exclusive Punahou High School in Honolulu, Hawaii as a scholarship student.
In his autobiography, Dreams of My Father, he wrote of his struggle to fit into a school where he was one of the few black students.
On Fox, Perry said Obama’s upbringing has resulted in bad policy. "I think that mentality of 'I’m the smartest guy in the room and therefore it couldn’t be my fault' is really hurting America," he said.

Maybe Perry has decided the way to get Republicans to support him is to do a "Trump".

Attack the President to a ridiculous degree, which could get the press to go after him for being over-the-top & ridiculous, then Republicans may rally around him.

14. Middle Class
The fact that Obama comes from a regular background and a middle class another reason they hate him. they are so caught up in the worship of the rich that in their minds anyone that didn't come from money like they did is not worthy of leading. It's not so much that they hate the middle class and poor, it's more that they real really love the rich, the supermen, who they feel are the only ones capable of leading. They still see a caste system as societies best structure.

Obama and Biden come from regular households that the average American totally gets. It was the same with Clinton, they hated him for overcoming a tough childhood and growing up poor. It wasn't that long ago that Republicans respected politicians who have come from meager circumstances. Now it's the "if you aint rich, you aren't fit to lead." attitude that's fully taken over.

If the Right had it their way there would be an income threshold you'd have to cross to even be eligible to participate in our democracy in anyway, including voting.

who is the smartest guy in the room? Given your track record the last couple of weeks, I wouldn't be questioning the smartness of anyone else, let alone President Obama. Hint: when you are in a hole, stop digging.

19. How about this?
Edited on Fri Nov-18-11 03:21 PM by Kber
It *is* a privilege to grow up in a country that allows someone from a relatively modest background to attend some of the best schools and rise to highest level of leadership in the country and arguably in the world.

Letting all children share in this "privileged" is America's best hope for greatness.

Hannity was in a lather about that...he said it means Obama is an elitist. That's the level of intellect we're dealing with here.

Hannity is a blockhead and so is Goodhair Perry.
