Long line forms overnight to get tickets for Obama's Osawatomie visit

More than 200 people lined up overnight and this morning to get a ticket to see President Barack Obama on Tuesday at Osawatomie High School.

The line began forming early Saturday evening, and people had to brave frigid temperatures overnight. Tickets are being handed out on a first come, first serve basis at noon today. Only one free ticket per person will be distributed.

The White House on Saturday cleared up some of the mystery surrounding Obama's trip.

The point of the trip is, in fact, to give an address on the economy — and specifically, how the president “sees this as a make-or-break moment for the middle class and all those working to join it,” a White House statement said.

15. So true
I wonder how many of those detractors here are really what they claim to be sometimes.

7. You're sure? Then you're naive. He needs to be MicChecked till he does something
instead of saying something.

11. Who's being naive? Why not ask them to miccheck Republicans?
You know, the ones who control which bills are introduced.

President Obama has done more than talk but he can only do so much by himself.

10. That is very unlikely. When he visited a small river town in
Minnesota, the overwhelming majority of attendees were local residents, eager to take advantage of an opportunity to see him speak. Since people are already lining up for tickets for the limited space available, I doubt you're going to see a mic check at this speech. Sorry. People will be taking their children to see a President in person. Most people have never done that. Most people think it is an important event in their lives.

16. You presume to speak for others in OWS when you infer OWS is anti-Obama.
Edited on Sun Dec-04-11 03:42 PM by AtomicKitten
You may even have anecdotes in support of that claim. I've fed OWS here in SF and have my own anecdotes that stand in stark contrast to that, and that brings us to an impasse.

OWS is as diverse as the day is long. I'm sure there are those that identify with OWS that are anti-Obama such as yourself, but there are also plenty of OWS that are Democrats and various union members that support the president and the Democratic party. There are also Ron Paul supporters, anarchists, cops infiltrating the crowds, and an occasional teabagger, etc., etc.

9. The same thing happened in the small town in Minnesota that
President Obama visited. There is a huge eagerness to see a sitting President speak. People of all political ideas understand the historical significance of being at such an event.

13. I bet they won't get pepper sprayed.
I'm glad he's getting support. He drives me crazy but I'm glad some still have faith in him. Really.
