How about a "Shiny Object of the Week" forum?
This would keep hot topics like TSA pat-downs from overwhelming GD and GD-P. You could put a link at the top of each to show the current week's shiny subject.

1. It would be a nice feature to have.
At some time in the future, I think we are going to have some sort of topic filtering. But that's a long way off.
