Americans' "war on terror" is over.
The military's "war on terror" continues. There is a difference.

The American people will soon realize that they have no more interest in continuing to fight the "war on terror". However, the profits for the MIC will have a lot of interest in keeping it going. They are at odds and are headed for a showdown.

There will be incidents of "terrorism" but nothing like 9/11. We had these incidents in the 50's and 60's and 70's as well. Planes were hijacked and flown to Cuba or some other country. We had incidents like the killings at the Munich Olympics and the Atlanta Olympics. We have had these "terrorist" incidents for most of our lifetimes. But we never declared a "war on terror" until Bin Laden and his fellow terrorists blew up the WTC.

But with the death of Bin Laden, there is no reason to continue the "war on terror". We should remain vigilant and on guard but we should reclaim our constitutional rights and slap down those politicians that would preach fear as a means to control our lives. We have always had threats and we will continue to have them. But the war on terror is officially over with the death of Usama Bin Laden, in my opinion.

Our biggest fight now is with the military industrial complex and their operatives and contractors. They are a bigger enemy to this country than terrorists. They will kill more people and will lead to more people being killed than all the terrorists combined. That is the new reality that people must awaken to. The "War on Terror" must end.

2. Yes. Exactly.
And the bigger the delta between 5/1/11 and the day we finally bring them all home is equal to the rate of disappointment in our leaders.

3. I'm afraid that in any "war" the MIC holds all the weapons - political, propaganda, the courts,
universal surveillance of the population, and most importantly, money to wage wars, real and and imagined.

4. They definitely have the advantage.
There is no argument about that.

5. In the end, they may go the way of the Soviet Union - just simply collapse, but
I'm afraid they'll take million of Americans down with them.

The USSR seems to be the best historical model for imperial overreach. But, the system that replaced it is, if anything, even more corrupt and the economic injustices more pronounced.

6. Republican President Dwight Eisenhower:
”Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."
---President Dwight Eisenhower

I would LOVE to hear a "Democrat" stand up and say something like THAT!!!

"There are forces within the Democratic Party who want us to sound like kinder, gentler Republicans.
I want us to compete for that great mass of voters that want a party that will stand up for working Americans."
---Paul Wellstone
