Richard Holbrooke's death
Weird how it's not even in LBN. GD stories about his death are about "jokes."

So they say he died of a torn aorta. Yet he collapsed in his office.

Hmmmm?

1. It was yesterday, when he died... You are very confused...

His torn aorta did not come as a result of trauma, but rather a weakness of the aorta, known as an aneurysm. Spontaneous rupture of the area of weakness, is not that rare.

And yes, there have been plenty of tribute type posts over the past 24 hours.

4. I don't get your point, Bobbieo...

Your aortic aneurysm is in your abdomen and yes, many live with that condition...As serious as they can be, those higher (thoracic aortic aneurysm) carry the greatest risk if not detected prior to rupture. Mr. Holbrook's aneurysm was of that variety, it appears, per this bit of discussion: "The closer the tear occurs to the root of the aorta, where it emerges from the heart, the more dangerous it can be. While not confirmed, doctors suspect that Holbrooke’s dissection was located in a particularly dangerous part of the aorta, where it first ascends upward from the heart. “I assume it’s the ascending artery because they operated on him,” said Richard Shemin, chief of cardiothoracic surgery at UCLA.."

9. I live with it because my heart specialist said it is inoperable. He
said "Go home and enjoy the rest of your life."

10. I see. Yes, many people live very long productive lives...
despite having an abdominal aortic aneurysm. It appears that Hobrook's was not only higher, but his high blood pressure and stress undoubtedly increased his risk of this happening (not to mention all that air travel)...

3. Where is an article saying
Edited on Tue Dec-14-10 08:25 PM by Ripley
it was an aneurysm?

Yeah, a lot of people are saying that dying people say weird stuff. Like "end the Afghanistan war."

Oh, and it was not just anyone, but an important advisor to the last three Dem presidents and someone who was a peacemaker in the Dayton Accords.

The Washington Post described him as "a towering, one-of-a-kind presence who helped define American national security strategy over 40 years and three wars by connecting Washington politicians with New York elites and influential figures in capitals worldwide."

I'm not confused, are you?

5. What is yor problem? you seem inherently pissed off...
Yes, we have discussed him and his contributions at length. Try searching the threads. Or reveal whatever conspiracy you think is going on vis-a-vis Holbrook? Try reading a bit. It is all out there, including details of his medical condition. No one here is required to post every link to every article that you are not willing to go read.

6. Projection
Who is "WE have discussed him..."?

I was asking a legitimate question about his cause of death.

I would have been happy to have discussed it fully with you and even gone and dug up some previous thread links, if you could toss the attitude for the time being. :eyes:

12. "reveal whatever conspiracy you think" - Nailed it. That's what the OP is about: treading a fine
semantic line so it doesn't get moved to the 9/11 forum where it rightfully belongs.

11. It has been no secret that both Holbrook and Biden have
had serious disagreements with Obama over Afghanistan. Both represent the administration, however, and thus represented the admin's policy decisions in their work. His last words emphasizing his true feelings on the matter ought to get more attention. I do agree with that.

13. OK.......I give up.
By what nefarious method do you think someone mysteriously tore Mr. Holbrooke's aorta......in his office.......without leaving any evidence of this murder.

This I've gotta hear.
