If Obama keeps his promise about getting out of Afghanistan, this summer, like he said he would, that would save this country money and human treasure. Let's say he gets us out of Iraq too, for good, then that promise would also be kept. I know that is asking a lot, but if it happens, I will do everything I can do, and think of doing for his reelection.
.Peace is so fragile. I can only hope.

6. not for me. Nope. I am committed to Obama no matter what,
but this war business is awful. Nothing is more important, war so worthless.

Now, there is no reason to be there.
Obama is commander in chief, and can pull troops out of anywhere. He got Ben Laden Time to Go.
Yes, I am for him, but there would be that extra incentive knowing he kept that promise too.

3. what does that mean to you - "getting out of Afghanistan"?

11. and I would agree with you, Unfortunately, I don't think that
is necessarily what is meant when we hear talk of pulling out of Iraq and Afghanistan.

He said he would reevaluate our position this summer.
He could use that, get out. He did say he would take some troops out, but let's get them all out.

5. I agree it would be nice, but I would not hold my breath. Yes, there will be significant reduction,
but I do not see them completely leaving any country for a long time

That being said, looking at the alternative, i.e. a republican candidate who wants to suppress woman's rights, civil rights, destroy collective bargaining, destroying HCR, and the Supreme Court, I will vote for Obama without hesitation

7. I agree with your statement, but
you most likely will do anything to get him elected anyway...because the alternative is just that horrible. Only having a 2 party system like the old joke...I don't have out run a lion - I only have to out run you! Candidates don't have to fix everything they just have to be better than the one other guy (or party)running.

9. I can't recall all of the details now, but on a MSM show this morning
they were discussing Afghanistan and what would be the result 10 years from now if the US pulled out and declared a victory now or a loss. Net/net - no difference. Afghanistan will be about the same 10 years from now if the US continues to pour money and lives in or not.

That's my feeling too. We've got a country here that needs a lot of help, an entire infrastructure that needs serious help, some decaying cities/towns, a growing portion of the population this is destitute, on and on.

This country has to come to grips with that fact that 5% of the world's population is not going to rebuild the world to what "we" want. It's a ridiculous model and is benefiting the MIC in a major way, but the US populace IMO not so much.

10. I have the feeling
That Iraq will be like Germany. We will never actually leave. I think that's one of the real reasons for the war in the first place. To give the US a base in the middle east.
