Wisc. GOP rushes to restrict voters ahead of recall elections
Source: Raw Story

Claiming they only wish to prevent voter fraud, Wisconsin Republicans are rushing a bill that would impose additional identification requirements on citizens who attempt to cast a ballot -- all ahead of key recall elections that could see the GOP thrown from power in the state.

The new rules would in effect limit the numbers of Democratic voters, according to research (PDF link) carried out by New York University. The elderly, the poor and minority voters tend to lean Democratic, and also have the highest percentages of people without driver's licenses or other photo IDs.

A valid voter registration card is already required to cast a ballot, and voters must go to their assigned polling places to be checked against the registry. Despite Republican claims of sprawling conspiracies to steal prior elections, virtually no evidence has been found to support their allegations.

1. Only partially true.

Part of voter ID could take effect this summer

While it would still be next year before a state-issued driver’s license or other photo ID is required to vote, this plan could force voters in nine senate recall elections -- six of them for Republican senators -- to live in their districts for 28 days before they can cast ballots. Right now only 10 days is required.

2. Lets just finish this
You need a DNA test to vote but if they get that I want an intelligence test as well. I am 100% sure that would whittle down the GOP voters enough that they will never win again.

Nice try folks but looks like Wisconsin is about to become one of the Facist States of America, along with Ohio, Maine, and Florida!

5. Repubs in MN. pushing this also. Poor, elderly, handicapped can loose their photos IDs easily let
alone get denied getting them. I know this having had to work with social services in attempting to get a photo ID for members of a poor and challenged family. Then the daughter lost hers.
This must be overturned everywhere across the Country.
