This paper is in Springsfield, MO which is only 70 miles from Joplin.

I think Cantor shot the GOP in the foot in MO.

eta: So far the hometown newspaper does not have this story. I sent it to them via http://www.joplinglobe.com/

1. That's not going to play well in that part of the state,
Which means that all those folks in what is a traditional Republican bastion are simply not going to vote.

2. Republicons are blackmailing America. Holding Joplin as hostage.

"If you Americans won't give us the deed to the ranch, then we are going to tie Joplin, Missouri to the railroad tracks. Bwaa ha ha ha. Sneer."

- Republicons (R)

3. the story goes on
"The disaster aid package would be financed by $1.5 billion cut from a loan program to encourage the production of fuel-efficient vehicles. That means the new spending wouldn't add to out-of-control budget deficits."

no, just to the gas guzzling ways that may have everything to do with these storms being so incredibly prolific and destructive.

7. Heinous behavior on the part of the Republicons
Turning their backs on the citizens of Missouri like this.

5. This may not have a huge impact in the area which is heavily
GOP and the home area of Senator Blunt and our former Governor Blunt, but it certainly is not a plus for them.

6. and cut NOAA some more, because weather isn't important either

I hate to play on a disaster, but I think we need to point this out. It may help reduce causalities in the future if we do.

9. There are only three comments
but they are not happy with Cantor. The last comment on the page turned a finger towards Long, which I thought would eventually happen.

10. I'm live in Springfield. I'm glad its here. Glad you sent it to Joplin--I think that paper is
overwhelmed. It has suprisingly little tornado/local coverage, probably because they are living it. The News Leader has a fairly large circulation, so this story will get heard where it needs to here in SWMO.
