How cool is this, non political
yesterday I had a small rock hit my windshield and chipped it and a small crack grew from it about 6 inches long. I called and safelite will be out friday morning to fix that for a total cost of 113 bucks. The truck is a 98 model so we don't carry full coverage so I pay but its still far short of what a new windshield would cost. It just blows me away that a crack in a windshield can be repaired and so cheaply.

1. It is cool
On top of everything else- I had a crack in my windshield yesterday. USAA is sending out safelite tomorrow for my 06 Nissan Altima.

3. I dare not drive the truck between now and friday so as to maybe the crack not grow any
If we'd had full coverage on it our insurance would have paid with no cost to us at all.

2. I believe they inject a clear polymer resin after drilling a couple tiny holes
at each end of the crack, so they do not continue to expand.

Science, well that or God wants it that way.

6. It'll tickle me to death how ever they do it
I was just saying to my wife a few days ago as we were going somewhere about how 13 years and no cracks in the windshield and I probably jinxed myself right then and there

4. It's relative.
10 cents of glue and the privilege of having someone apply it.

IOW, it's massively expensive.

Unless it was worth it to you.

10. I can't put a windshield in myself so it would cost me close to 500 bucks to replace it
so yes its worth it to me

5. Just had to replace mine (shattered after someone's wine bottle dropped
from a balcony onto my car several floors below). $310.00 So, the deductible meant I just paid it. Damn, I wish mine could have been so easily repaired, but I was picking up small glass shards from the dash.

7. Can you keep the truck out of the sun?
Heat and expansion of the glass can make the crack worse.

8. I did an internet querry with Safelite and they called me back
about 3 minutes after I hit the submit button, while on the phone the repair was approved with my insurance and a time set up for the next day in less than 15 minutes. Cost me 100 bucks co-pay and they did the work at my wifes work.
