Christian Soldiers On A Crusade

I watched a program this morning on FSTV (Faultlines) on the growing number of Evangelical Christians in the United States Armed Forces.

I know that there is a lot on our plate these days, but this program scared the shit out of me. It wasn't that I hadn't known about this. It was more that I didn't realize how pervasive it has become. We all remember the story coming out of the Air Force Academy about segments of the corps pushing Christianity...well, they still are. They are backed by The Campus Crusade For Christ, which have been touring universities across this nation for a very long time. I graduated from one of the service academies and what is going on at the AFA is frightening.

I am an agnostic. However, I respect people of faith in that they seem to have something that has eluded me for the past 58 years. Having said that, I am completely alarmed by this trend. Soldiers are there to defend the Constitution and our right to faith or our right to not have faith. What is going on in our military only fortifies what our "enemies" have been saying about these wars...that it is a religious war against Islam.

I see this trend as a clear and present danger to our society and yet nothing is being done about it. The Obama Administration is ignoring this issue in lieu of other pressing issues. However, I truly believe that if this continues we may soon be facing the loss of our religious freedoms.

2. Was it "Constantine's Sword"? It sounds like that film/documentary

if it wasn't, you should catch it...it's done by a former priest and covers much of the historical violence committed in the name of various gods...
(it shows up on Dish network occasionally and Netflix has it too)

4. I agree. Here we go with onward christian soldiers. That's all we need is an

indoctrinated christian army. That is exactly the plan IMO, the loss of our religious freedoms and christianity installed as the state religion and those against it prosecuted.

I swear some in this country are intent in bringing back the religious crusades and the inquisitions. Everything I thought this country stood for is going down the drain IMO in my lifetime.

7. I was speaking to my...

...daughter-in-law the other day (she is a born again Christian) and during our discussion about religion, I asked her if she felt that our country would be better off if it were run my Christians. To my amazement, she said "yes." I was completely blown away. I told her that this would mean that we would no longer be a Democracy but would become a Theocracy. She said that she really didn't care as long as people of moral character like Christians were running the country. I shook my head and left the room.

11. I've seen the Campus Crusade... almost joined.

I realized what a crazy bunch of people they were and quit - and the fact that they're going after our armed services - especially the Air Force Academy. It's scary and it gives new meaning to the phrase "onward Christian soldiers".
