The bad jobs report could be an excellent opportunity for Democrats.
Remember the ubiquitous GOP campaign refrain leading up to the 2010 election? They were all saying that they were "all about JOBS!" They were all saying that THE issue was JOBS.

Of course, once they got elected the "JOBS" thing got dropped in a hurry and suddenly they were all about "doing something about the deficit". However, despite our national tendency toward amnesia, it shouldn't be that difficult to dig up a plethora of examples from the 2010 campaign of them being "all about JOBS!"

If the Democrats were smart (yeah, a big "if" I know), they would start getting their talking points lined up regarding how the Republican promises of "JOBS!" have come to nothing -- and how they have, in fact, completely changed the subject.

The thing is, no matter how addlepated and ignorant the U.S. voters are, they DO know that lack of JOBS is definitely a major problem. It shouldn't be that hard to remind them that they elected a bunch of Republicans in 2010 because those Republicans promised to do something about JOBS, yet now it's getting worse on that front.

My 2 cents, anyway...

1. The Dems are already doing that. They're not real loud about it

yet, but I've heard several talking about it, and Bernie Sanders talks about it all the time when he's on Thom Hartmann's show every friday. Rachel has also brought that subject you, and has called on Boner "Where are the JOBS??"

6. Wouldn't the Democratic Party have to stop agreeing
On 'austerity measures' first?

7. Yeah, there's that.
In any case, Democratic party messaging pretty much sucks.

I was just posting a passing thought -- realizing that it won't matter, that the Dems aren't going to do anything about jobs, anyway.

I just really hate the thought of Republicans completely taking over -- they're actively evil, while the Dems as a whole are simply useless. Well, not entirely useless -- at least every Dem seat in Congress is one less Repub seat.

8. I know what the Republicans would do if they were in
our position. They would say the failure of the Republicans to agree on the debt ceiling is creating uncertainty in the markets. Remember that's what they were saying about extending the Bush tax cuts.
How about Democrats coming out with a budget proposal that does exactly what the Republicans want and see how fast they back out of it.

9. And it should be pointed out that tax cuts for the rich have not resulted in JOBS.
