But we caaaaaaannnnn't. The whine of the why we can't to do things.
We can't get the economy going because the republicans. We can't do anything because of the republicans.

Last time I looked we had a Democrat as President. But until Obama decides to use his power as President to shame, ridicule, and do whatever needs to be done, the very things the MAJORITY of the country wants him to do, we will apparently be using that excuse until we lose in 2012.

to carry out missions....even easy ones like more jobs

3. I agree 100%...
...whenever someone asks one of our Democratic policy makers a question like, why not have a second stimulus? they respond with "Like that could ever pass in the current climate!" If they were really serious about promoting alternatives to Republican policies, they would start by making a passionate and well-informed case for the better alternative. But instead, they reveal that they too have bought into the current received wisdom, they roll their eyes at the thought of anything that would "increase the deficit", while totally ignoring policy solutions that could help stimulate the economy and also alternative ways to decrease the deficit (like making sure that corporations pay taxes like the rest of us, by rolling back the Bush tax cuts at a minimum, and by making real cuts to the bloated military budget and scaling back our military bases abroad, just for starters).

But all they will do is roll their eyes and say "We can't do that in the current climate". They NEVER argue why perhaps we SHOULD do something different, and that is because they don't really believe we should do something different. And that's because they, too, work for the monied elites rather than for the rest of us. Their paychecks, and perhaps more importantly, their future employment prospects, depend upon them coming to the conclusions they come to, that just happen to serve the wealthy, and the corporations, at the expense of the vast majority.

6. I remember the last time the nation felt their president lacked a backbone
and the will to fight.

Then Reagan got elected.
