and if it doesn't work...it will be a democratic congress with both houses and the white house that failed america

once they secure their tax cuts for he rich, game over.

Senator Reid has already said he will keep the Senate open until January 4 if necessary to finish the business you mentioned.

Rachel covered it very well last night.

You're right, the tax cuts for the rich are the biggest priorities of the rushpublicans and McConnell ran rings around Reid and Obama and held up all other legislation until those cuts were done. He "compromised" in only extending it for two years so this dog and pony show can play out again as part of the '12 campaign.

The obstruction game has backloaded these closing days and the Democrats boxed themselves in by letting the rushpublicans hijack any other work until they got what they wanted. I expect START will be ratified, but again for another price...more billions to defense contractors no doubt. I also see some strong possibilities for DADT...the stand-alone bill stripped from the Defense Authorization appears to have the 60 votes to get an up or down vote in the Senate. I can't say if the House will be as willing, but if the legislative can't get their shit together, the courts soon will.
