Happy Birthday, Bill of Rights
Tip o' the hat to George Mason.

Bill of Rights

The Bill of Rights is the name by which the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution are known.<1> They were introduced by James Madison to the First United States Congress in 1789 as a series of legislative articles, and came into effect as Constitutional Amendments on December 15, 1791, through the process of ratification by three-fourths of the States.

I don't know how they're celebrating at George Mason Elementary School, but at least one incoming freshman congressman is "honoring" them by urging that the First Amendment be gutted.

Bill of Rights, Ratification

Madison based much of the Bill of Rights on George Mason's Virginia Declaration of Rights (1776), which itself had been written with Madison's input.
