Poll question: In Obama's heart, where do you think he stands on marriage equality?

I honestly believe Obama supports marriage equality. He just can't say so for political reasons. I think he will continue to work hard to advance equality for all people (DADT/DOMA as examples) even if he "officially" doesn't take a stand. He looked like "the cat that swallowed the canary" when asked about marriage equality during his press conference. It really didn't take much to "read between the lines" and understand where the President stands.

I want to know what you guys think. Please answer the poll. I put every possible option I could think of in regard to how a reasonable person could view the President (and his politics) on this issue.

1. Doesn't care?
I think he's a pragmatist and approaches it without conviction.

2. I believe he favors equality.

I think he will continue to try to advance the agenda.

The question is…. "Is it okay if Obama's heart and politics is in the right place even if he never "officially" takes what I believe is the proper position?"

I think that's where we are in regard to the issue. And judging by the polls result so far, I think most here would agree with that synopsis.

7. What's in his heart is irrelevant if he won't back it up with action.

8. I think the question is...

is it okay if he backs up his "true position with action" while never publicly coming out in favor of it fully?

9. Other. Doesn't give a shit and will come out for it when it's politically expedient for him.
Like everything else he does.

I "honestly believe" that Obama really doesn't care but leans against LGBT equality because he thinks we're icky like most social moderates.
I also "honestly believe" that Barack Obama's deepest, most intimate feelings about anything are goddamn irrelevant. I'd rather he hate me personally and have political courage to do the right thing.

12. Well, that's just sad.
The GOP jackals are throwing themselves in front of the process, but Pres Obama is in the process of repealing DADT permanently. He's not defending the constitutionality of DOMA because he believes it to be unconstitutional. He has signed important hate crimes legislation. He has restored/enforced constitutional rights and privileges by Executive Order.

You don't have to say thank you, just acknowledge he's done something good. I don't begrudge your feeling of urgency, I just think you are failing to acknowledge progress. To what end I don't know.
