Rick Perry: Economy crashed because it's God's plan to return USA to Biblical principles
Governor Rick Perry can't get enough of God. As he prepares to host his anti-gay prayer rally joining forces with the controversial American Family Association, he is continuing to raise controversy as clergy and some state governors have declined his invitation to the prayer rally. As it turns out, God is responsible for the crash of the economy, not bad politics, because it's all part of God's plan to get America to return to Biblical principles.

1. Does anyone remember Perry leaning heavily on God, the Bible, etc. before he started to
flirt with the idea of running in 2012? I don't.

5. No- and I've lived through his whole lovely political career.
He is a classic example of hypocrite...use God when it's to your advantage.

22. No, definitely not. He is politically astute
He's playing to the base. When he announced his governors' prayer vigil, I knew this was the final straw in a run for the presidency. He's batshit and ignorant, but he is politically astute. Kind of like another former governor...

4. and yet, he would lose texas to Obama.
I wonder when the penny will drop for the GOP.

The world has moved past this cretinous, ruinous fixation on a make believe god. More and more Americans realize that the GOP is either hypocritical when it comes to what they profess and how they act, or these are some seriously deluded people.

7. Which biblical principles? No interest on loans? All debts forgiven after 7 years?
Those 2 are Old Testament. Or perhaps he has the communism of Acts of the Apostles in mind - all property is put into a communal holding for all to benefit from, and anyone who holds anything back will be killed by God?

It'd be quite fun to see a Republican actually advocating some Biblical economics. I suspect they'd cart them away to a rest clinic so fast their feet wouldn't touch the ground.

Perry might mean a return to slaveholding, of course ...

10. ah yes, my fine jackass govenor.
he's taken the decidedly batshit crazy approach to campaigning.

it works so well for bachman and failin, that cement head perry thought he would give it a go.

he honestly is the most stupid person on the face of the earth. I think he has an assistant that tells him to breath.

11. Rick, the economy crashed because Bush and friends are thieving idiots.
The Great Recession started on their watch due to their decisions.

12. "From now on, the streets, forests, plains, and rivers of Texas will be safe
"From now on, the streets, forests, plains, and rivers of Texas will be safe from the godless practice of evolution, and species will be able to procreate without deviating from God's intended design," said Rick Perry "This is about protecting the integrity of all creation."

The sweeping new law prohibits all living beings within state borders from being born with random genetic mutations that could make them better suited to evade predators, secure a mate, or, adapt to a changing environment. In addition, it bars any sexual reproduction, battles for survival, or instances of pure happenstance that might lead, after several generations, to a more well-adapted species or subspecies.

Violators of the new law may face punishments that include jail time, stiff fines, and rehabilitative education and training to rid organisms suspected of evolutionary tendencies. Repeat offenders could face chemical sterilization.

To enforce the law, Texas state police will be trained to investigate and apprehend organisms who exhibit suspected signs of evolutionary behavior, such as natural selection or speciation. Plans are underway to track and monitor DNA strands in every Texan life form for even the slightest change in allele frequencies.

"Barn swallows that develop lighter, more streamlined builds to enable faster migration, for example, could live out the rest of their brief lives in prison," said Indiana University chemist and pro-intelligent-design author Robert Hellenbaum, who helped compose the language of the law. "And butterflies who mimic the wing patterns and colors of other butterflies for an adaptive advantage, well, their days of flouting God's will are over."

15. Everybody seems to get "religion" when all they have is taken away. Seems to me
the real test would be how we react when we have abundance. Now that would be a real test. I am ready.

18.  Biblical principles, wtf?
Isn't Rick Perry the guy who murdered Todd Willingham?

http://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2011/06/the-ghost-of-cameron-todd-willingham/240901/

I could be wrong on this, Guv P., but I think God frowns on executing innocent people. So much for Biblical principle, you hypocrite.

the same question to Perry as he did to Bachmann.
