Bristol Palin book sales are so low that..

she has to resort to entertaining herself..

There was excited talk of large crowds because this area is heavily Republican and also of the Tea Party persuasion, despite the fact that former President Lyndon B. Johnson was (and still is) such a huge figure in these parts.

that Bristol had left after only 20 mins. to a half hour of signing. There was even a point where there was no one waiting, so she graciously (to her credit) went around and introduced herself to the employees in the area.

In the grand tradition of her Mama Grizzly, she’d brought little Tripp (have I got the name right? With all the Tripps, Tracks, Trigs, etc., it’s hard to keep up) along for added value. No Sarah, though.

The checker said that while Palin was still there an elderly lady went through her check-out line and muttered “Hmmph. What does she know about life?”

When my husband was just about done checking out, the Walmart employee said “When you get down to it, it’s all about the money, isn’t it?”

Indeed.

20. Reminds me of a joke I heard...
Girl walks up to Bristol and says "Let me ask you a question. A horse, a cow and a deer all eat the same stuff... grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clumps of dried grass. Why do you suppose that is?"

Bristol thought about it and said, "Hmmm, I have no idea."

To which the girl replied, "Do you really feel qualified to discuss the meaning of life when you don't know shit?"

(modified slightly to fit the occasion)

7. This is more a reflection on the decision makers at Harper Collins
than on Bristol. In her shoes, I would have jumped at the opportunity to publish at 19, writing talent or no.

That Harper Collins believed that people might be interested in a teenager's "memoirs" is not a good reflection on them.

10. Does it matter? It's tabloid fodder, not autobiographical material.
Who ghost wrote? Bet he/she was glad for the work anyway.

17. Sales were so low
She had to button up Levi Johnson's pants.

So low, she had to do the limbo in Antarctica.

So low, she had to dig a hole to see daylight.

So low, they were pumping in sunlight.

19. And the stupid thing about it is I expect to see a pile of her books at Costco...
Edited on Sat Jul-09-11 05:04 PM by cascadiance
Along with all of the other "overstock" of right wing books they seem to have there because distributors are "giving" them to Costco, despite their customer base being more likely to buy stuff from the left.

It's pretty sad seeing hardly ANY books by any writers we'd want to see (Naomi Wolf, Naomi Klein, etc.), and their shelves are filled with the likes of Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, Glen Beck, etc.

I still think that going on a campaign to protest this at Costco and make their sad book selection more public might be a good thing for us to do down the road. We SHOULD have more clout with vendors like Costco, who like to think we are loyal to them than trying to do the same at some place like Wal-Mart or Sam's Club where we'd be ignored and quite frankly I'd never even want to walk in to anyway.

21. I want to know why she's wearing a thick scarf around her neck in Texas in July.
We're consistently hitting 100 these days--just the thought of a scarf makes me uncomfortable.

over-exposed themselves, they did....The types they attract will play with shiny things for a while with complete devotion, but then they tire and even turn on them...

25. But the real question is, why were you shopping at Walmart?
Naughty naughty, minus 2 liberal points for supporting the great satan.

Mainly joking, but if you could avoid it, it would help out the boycott, but I understand that sometimes you just can't.
