5. It's only 96 with a 17 heat index here in La Crosse, WI on the Mississippi.
Better than yesterday.

I knew it had been bad yesterday when I got up this morning and it felt cooler with a temp of 80 which felt like 88. It was supposed to rain this afternoon and didn't, but that would have been worse after it stopped adding all the moisture to the air would have been more miserable.

7. We had an ACTUAL temp of 119 here once. But it was a dry heat, so they say.
I don't recall. My brain had quit functioning at that point.

13. Temps over 115F are literally fear-inducing, because if the power fails,
lots of folks including me and my kitties are in very real physical danger.

11. I was born and raised in Columbus, and I remember those summer
nights well. Hot and humid, no breeze at all. And, we did not have air conditioning. Only a box fan in the window. I used to take a wet washcloth to bed with me to wipe my face and neck to try to keep cool so I could go to sleep. Then I grew up and moved to Texas. August in Houston, need I say more? But, at least, everyone has air conditioning here.

We've been getting the 102 as the actual temp, not with heat index.
