I found the first part of his answer interesting: It had become apparent that Boner had “difficulty in his Caucus” with a “group that thought default would be okay” and who “wouldn’t vote for an increase in the debt ceiling under any circumstances.”

Honestly, I think he understood that Boner was owned by that little group. No matter what had been put on the table, The Orange One wouldn't accept it because it would cross his puppetmasters' "sharp ideological line".

And no, I don't think Obama's some "jedi-master genius playing nth dimensional chess". But I do think he's as smart as me. And If I could see after years of exposure that these dickheads were more interested in posturing and chest thumping than manning up and doing their damned job, then I'm not so surprised that he could see that, too.

1. It seems to me that the Republicans outsmarted him
they got him to put the sacred cows on the alter. Currently they are running ads against him --being willing to cut ("adjust" "strengthen") the big 3. And he handed them the Democrat's proven election strategy-- Ryan Plan that already won them 2 elections as well as causing an estrangement from the Democratic caucus.

2. You really think this is "outsmarting" Obama?
Interesting take. And yet, not how the American people have been seeing it in the past week.
Since poll numbers and not ad numbers are more of an indicator of who has the support of the people, I'm gonna stick with my original opinion.
