I would like to start a petition for a class-action lawsuit against Palin and Co.
Yes it would be similar to when families of school shooting victims have tried to sue movie and videogame makers, but unlike those instances, this case would have merit because unlike entertainment companies, these people are consciously and deliberately trying to incite violent acts, and there is plenty of proof that they are succeeding. It should name not only Palin, but also Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, Sean Hannity, and any others who have contributed to their "if you can't beat them, murder them" message. It should be for multiple billions of dollars in punitive damages, I want these bastards to go into bankrupcy. Even if this case doesn't win, it will send them a much stronger and more stern message than any amount of yelling at them on a message board. Who would support something like this?

2. What I think you are asking is for a reputable attorney to take it on...
Why not send an inquiry to Mike Papantonio...?

6. Who is that?
And obviously none of us would have grounds for bringing this case, since we are not related to the victims (as far as I know) but how would you go about giving a lawyer the idea?

7. Mike Papantonio
is a top class attorney, a staunch progressive and has had a talk radio program (RIng of Fire) with Robert Kennedy Jr., first on Air America Radio and now syndicated. As an attorney, his firm has tackled environmentally related class action lawsuits from Big Tobacco to corporate polluters.

He can be contacted through his radio website: http://www.ringoffireradio.com/about/mike-papantonio/
Or through his lawfirm (Levin Papantonio Thomas Mitchell Rafferty & Proctor, P.A.): http://www.levinlaw.com/attorney-profiles/mike-papantonio

I suspect Ring of Fire will cover this and perhaps you could email or call in... Lawyers can and DO assemble the class for class action lawsuits.

8. I just sent an anonymous message to Papantonio's website that reads as follows:
"I would like to suggest that a class-action lawsuit be filed against Sarah Palin, Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, Sean Hannity, and any other conservative pundits who have contributed to the hateful eliminationist rhetoric against liberals that I believe led to the assassination attempt on Rep. Gifford and the mass murder of 6 innocent bystanders. The plaintiffs should seek punitive damages and overall this case should serve as a harsh and powerful message to these people that their words have consequences and that using dog whistle tactics (Palin's crosshair map for example) is not acceptable. I realize that such a case would be similar to when families of school shooting victims have tried to sue movie and videogame makers, but I believe this case would have merit because unlike entertainment companies, these pundits are consciously and deliberately trying to incite violent acts, and there is plenty of proof that they are succeeding. I personally have no connection to any of the victims' families and I do not want to become personally involved in this situation, but I believe that legal action should be taken against Palin and others like her who fan the flames of hatred."
