My email to my congressman:
Dear Mr. Congressman,

Please help return your party to a responsible process in resolving the debt ceiling situation. The debt ceiling involves our ability to pay the bills we already have, and to preserve our valuable credit rating. Failure to address this will have terrible consequences for all.

I understand your party's hatred for the President. However, this is not the issue to precipitate an ideological battle over. There are plenty of ways you can embarrass and blame the President, but please urge your peers not to do it at the expense of those you swore to serve.

Please don't let your hatred of our President override your love of our Country.

Sincerely,

/sig/

1. GREAT letter. I also think though that many teabaggers are operating from
a completely different reality than we are. Many think default would be GOOD for our nation. Some think that it would be great to start Armageddon to hurry the return of Jeebus. Seriously, I have talked with a couple of teabagger extremist religious nuts, they WANT default/armageddon etc. to FORCE people to turn to their idea of JEEBUS. I'm not making that up. These people are literally religiously insane. Can't reason with insane people. But thank you for trying.

2. So very, very true, unfortunately
Sadly, we have our own version of the Taliban right here at home. Religious feudalism is a terribly dangerous thing.

How can I believe otherwise?

5. They do keep count
It's important to call, email and write your legislator. They do keep a count and the Repukes like to say "our calls are running (insert %) in our favor." They might not tell the truth but there is always the threat of someone calling for them to release their records under the open records' law.
