Boehner Gives Up: Adds Balanced Budget Amendment
REPORT: Boehner Gives Up, Adds Balanced Budget Amendment To Plan | According to a report by CBS News’ Jill Jackson, Speaker Boehner has added a requirement that a Balanced Budget Amendment be sent to the states before the debt ceiling is raised beyond an initial $900 billion. At the Weekly Standard, Bill Kristol calls the move a “pointless and embarrassing gimmick[] to try to secure a last-gasp victory on the House floor.”

5. Ha. That actually worked for me. Though it was the 6th grade.
And it was a pool party, rather than ice cream.

Your post made me laugh.:-)

4. Has anybody bo=there'd to tell John TO READ the congressional record?
I mean they read the Constitiution and all. Tell John to read it, that part on how you get an amendment passed, he really needs it.

HE SHOULD tack left, or just get a clean bill... oh wait that be statesmanship

9. If you're going down, light yourself on fire so you go down in flames
Kristol's characterization of this as a pointless and embarrassing gimmick would be spot on, except for one thing: Two weeks from now, Kristol and his ideological brethren will be whining about how the mean old Democrats defeated the perfectly reasonable alternative offered up by the Republicans.

By the way, where is the bill? The House Republicans solemnly swore that they wouldn't vote on anything that hadn't been published for at least 72 hours so that everyone had a chance to read it and comment on it before "rushing" legislation through. Where is this bill? And will they vote on it before Monday? What about their pledge?

Let alone how to write one!!

There sure as hell won't be any room to start wars in a budget like that!!
