I didn't know what I knew or when I knew it but I KNEW
there was a feeling deep inside from a young age (about 9 or 10) that there were unseen forces that were forces to be reckoned with. Other kids were afraid of monsters under the bed, but I knew that the monsters weren't under the bed...
Perhaps because I was born shortly before Kennedy was assassinated...I grew up never feeling completely "safe". Safety wasn't about my home or school, but something that I could never touch or explain.
My family life wasn't overly political, or I don't remember it being as such, but I remember "things" and remember taking stances on issues and having certain ideologies.
In my class prophecy, I was projected by my classmates to be the first woman on the SCOTUS.
I protested the building of a nuclear power plant in the 70's as a tween, understood the
threat of Reagan as a teen, and have progressively watched this country go down the toilet throughout the years.
To be honest, we've been going down the road we are on almost from the time I was born.
Perhaps the whole thing does need to completely break before we can build something better--and by better, I can't even say that dividing this country into two or three or having another Constitutional Convention isn't what we need--because regardless of ideology--almost everyone agrees that there is no governing in Washington anymore--only politics.
