The Future, if we don't stop it
With all the GOP's deregulation enabling large corporations to absorb smaller ones, we can easily imagine living in a society where one or two corporations control all of our goods and services.

I was thinking last night, now that we have these military contractors out there doing the jobs of our military, that its not long before we no longer HAVE a military...all our dealing will be handled by private contractors.

At some point, The big corporations will not only absorb other companies, but these military contractors as well...creating massive corporations who have their own military division!

can you imagine Walmart, with armed guards as you are ordered to spend your money there and buy certain things? Imagine them invading other countries, controlling foreign policy etc

I don't think I'm crazy...I think if we don't stop this....we're headed for a very sick sad world, and its closer than we realize!

1. The Cyberpunk science fiction writers
like Willian Gibson and John Shirley, explored these increasingly likely outcomes 20 years ago. If you have trouble imagining, pick up "A Song Called Youth" ... we're gettin' there. And the OP is right, it is closer than we realize.
