"Obama Says `Progress' Made in Meeting With CEOs"
"Let's restart, let's work on how we create a more vibrant economy" -- Obama

And his idea of this is by creating another free-trade agreement and more deregulation on technology sales? Looks like we going to see more selling out of the middle class to the benefit of short term wall street numbers. :puke:

President Barack Obama said his meeting with 20 company executives brought “progress” in efforts to accelerate the U.S. economic recovery.

~snip~

Obama is generating more optimism among CEOs after a series of business-friendly overtures, including a deal to extend tax cuts enacted in 2001 and 2003 and efforts to boost exports such as a U.S.-South Korea free-trade agreement and a loosening of controls on some technology sales.

A ‘Restart’

“Things were said on both sides that shouldn’t have been and did not further the opportunity to work together,” Cote said as he arrived at Blair House this morning. “This is our chance to do that. I give the president a lot of credit for being the man big enough to say ‘Let’s restart, let’s work on how do we create a more vibrant economy.’”

15. Yeah or the way we "looked forward" instead of investigating
the Bush administration. Or the way Obama promised the CEO's today to "look forward"... oh wait new words today... Not look forward but "Reset"....

4. It's all about process, not product for him. No progress for us.
I'm beginning to be nauseated by the thought of him.

8. Loosening of "controls" refers to regulations.
Edited on Wed Dec-15-10 06:06 PM by Divernan
Exactly what "controls" are these? The article refers to "technology sales". As opposed to what other sales? Produce?

Technology can refer to computers, televisions, all kinds of communication devices, power tools, large and small appliances. In those cases, the regs often are in regard to safety testing & quality control. I hope the Office of Consumer Affairs evaluates loosening of controls/regs.

10. Oh god, I want to puke. That line about 'giving the president a lot of credit', is basically saying
'for admitting we are in charge'.

You only say someone is a "big enough guy to" when they humble themselves. After the elections, Obama just couldn't seem to wait to humble himself before these people.

16. Interesting blurb on NPR about this meeting,
According to the UPS CEO who attended, a good part of the meeting was devoted to. . .drumroll please. . . Reducing the debt!

Yeah, our president meeting with CEO's discussing how to further screw the poor and middle class via spending cuts.

17. Welcome to the United States of Plutocracy
Power is in the hands of the wealthy. They maintain and increase their wealth and power by keeping everyone else subservient through constantly deteriorating wages.
