Summer 2012 Riots?
.

Is it too early to predict the upcoming riots in USA? Given how hard Murdoch Media is pushing for the outbreak of violence and riot in USA, is it reasonable to predict when the rioting starts?

Will any one be surprised to learn Murdoch Media has hired people to cause riots in USA!?

1. They have been prepping and training the police and military
for just such an event for the last 20 years. The reaction will be swift, ruthless and remorselessly brutal.

2. I would add ...
> Publicly-funded elections (get the corporate & PAC money out of it)
> Reverse the Citizens United vs FEC decision, and clarify the 14th Amendment's intent that human beings, not corporations, have rights.

3. No riots in the US until the Diet Coke and Chalupas run out.

4. It's to hot to riot right now, LOL.

More seriously, I think out hyper-individualist culture is by nature less prone to rioting than in other countries.

Koch Brothers and Murdoch Media _will_ get the RW haters rioting easily.

that spurred some riots in the past. It was what caused the tipping point when some action like a police shooting or the beating of some underclass person lit the tinder box causing it to explode.

10. Goop point, hence the term "long, hot summer".

8. The thing progressives need to remember is that
we have to be peaceful, disruptive but peaceful. Fox News will blow up any angry act into something it isn't like saying MoveOn demonstrators kicked down the door of John Boehner's office. Instead they knocked on the door and a women kicked the door once with her foot, hardly a door kicking down.

9. Not likely.
We might see small local ones for small local reasons, but generalized riots a la Watts? Not yet. I don't see any general issue on the radar that would trigger widespread rioting, plus people are either too invested in the status quo, too apathetic or too demoralized, and the state security and propaganda apparatus is strong enough to suppress most low to medium intensity civil unrest.

If I had to put a time line on the start of general-purpose rioting in the USA I'd say it's still 6 years away - say one to two years after the 2016 presidential election.
