Looks like the media has gone totally NUTS
I've seen many articles tonight questioning Pawlenty's 'future',
example: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/08/13/questions-for-pawlenty-after-straw-poll-finish/

some have even said that this is the 'end of Pawlenty's run'.

This all seems a bit crazy to me since he came in THIRD place and NO ONE is questioning the future of the other GOPers that came in 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th.

2011 Straw Poll Full Results (Votes, %)
1. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (4823, 28.55%)
2. Congressman Ron Paul (4671, 27.65%)
3. Governor Tim Pawlenty (2293, 13.57%)
4. Senator Rick Santorum (1657, 9.81%)
5. Herman Cain(1456, 8.62%)
6. Governor Rick Perry (718, 3.62%) write-in
7. Governor Mitt Romney (567, 3.36%)

8. Speaker Newt Gingrich (385, 2.28%)
9. Governor Jon Huntsman (69, 0.41%)
10. Congressman Thad McCotter (35, 0.21%)
Scattering (162, 0.96 %) Includes all those receiving votes at less than one-percent that were not on the ballot.

Sarah Palin got ZERO votes in the Ames Straw Poll - so I guess that means 'good riddance' to her ;) But isn't it curious that NONE of the TV networks have said that about Palin?

1. "gone"?
Are you implying it was anywhere near sanity in the past 20 years?

:wtf:

22. Something tells me we'll never know.
I have little doubt they would cover something like that up. The Bachmann win is embarrassing enough as it is. Something tells me there were substantial numbers of "Parry" voters...

8. Rick Perry did NOT participate in the event but folks wrote him in on the ballots.
I think that this speaks volumes to the fact that folks have given up on a Palin run ;)

12. I don't think so
I think he stands a much better chance. The right-wing base favors a man for president.

13. Perry's voice and mannerisms are too much like Bush's. If he wins the nomination ...
he would have NO chance of winning the election.

Also, his record SUCKS.

The job increase here in Texas is mainly minimum wage jobs.

He would be torn to shreds in the general election.
And his past comments regarding 'secession' will not go over well with the majority of Americans.

18. Not at all - Perry completes his Gubernatorial Terms
and he has a minimal record for job growth in Texas.

He's definitely more qualified than Palin (though really, that description covers 98% of America)

15. Flavor of the day
The corporate media resemble a Baskin-Robbins in that regard. Wouldn't be prudent to pimp your most prominent player at the expense of all others at all times, yunno. Gotta sneak-in the also-ran occasionally, just to keep things lively! It's all a circus to them (I prefer the term cirque du so-what, for obvious reasons) and the media are the loudmouthed ringmasters.

Tim Pawlenty to end Presidential Campaign

Former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty told
supporters this morning he will end his campaign
for the GOP presidential nomination.

Pawlenty will make a formal announcement when
he appears today on ABC's This Week. He finished
a disappointing and distant third in yesterday's
Iowa presidential straw poll, well behind his
Minnesota rival, Rep. Michele Bachmann.

The surprise decision by Pawlenty, who made John
McCain's short list of vice presidential picks in
2008, was first reported by Politico. USA TODAY's
Jackie Kucinich has also confirmed Pawlenty's
decision.

Selling her ghost-written books or videos or bumper stickers or whatever else she wants to unload on the suckers.

20. It's because the Iowa straw poll takes place near MN.
Ron Paul is a special case because he has a devoted cult that will show up anywhere and support him.
Bachmann and Pawlenty are the only people with a presence in that region and Bachmann trounced Pawlenty.

21. This is a poll that is never accurate, you know? But Tim's out.
Already. Out. But also remember that McCain came in second to last in Ames with 101 votes. And remember that Pat Robertson once won this Straw Poll.
