Anyone else having persistent logout issues with the new Yahoo! mail?

Seems that I can never logout without getting an error message.

3. The new Yahoo mail SUCKS!!!!!
Don't even get me started. I rue the day I switched. I even sent them some rather nasty feedback on the topic :)

Luckily, I still have two other Yahoo addresses :)

7. There is, think you go to your upper right corner in "mail" click on options.

8. Sadly, no...
I switched the email that I use for things like website log-ins, etc, and regret it. My main email is still classic, but now every single time I log in, it tries to get me to click "upgrade". There is a tiny link that says "no thanks" but the page is splashed with a warning: that I would be asked every single time I log in, from now until some date in September. I have no idea what happens after that date, but my hope is it means they will just stop asking.

It is definitely inferior to the old mail, both in convenience and performance.

15. If you have Firefox, you can switch back
Edited on Wed Aug-24-11 09:37 PM by BattyDem
The new Yahoo Mail does not support IE6 ... so all you have to do is trick Yahoo mail into thinking that Firefox is IE 6 and there's an add-on that will do it! :)

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/user-agent-switcher">User Agent Switcher

Install it and select "Internet Explorer 6" as your default agent.
Login to Yahoo Mail. You'll get a message that says your browser is not supported and it will ask you if you want to update your browser ... but just below that is an option to return to the previous version of Yahoo Mail. Select it ... Yahoo Classic Mail is back!

After you logout, switch back to your "Default Agent" and the next time you login to Yahoo Mail you won't have to switch your agent at all. You can use the current version of Firefox (or any browser) and Yahoo Classic Mail will still be there.

I used User Agent Switcher to switch back to Classic Mail and I have logged in using the current versions of IE, Firefox and Google Chrome with no problems. About a week after switching back to Classic Mail, Yahoo did ask me to switch to the new version again, but I studied the page a bit longer than I did the first time I switched and realized there was a very small text link to the Classic Mail interface at the bottom of the page. I clicked it and I haven't be asked to switch to the new mail again.

Of course, if you happen to have an old computer with IE6 installed, you can login from that machine and switch back to Classic Mail without installing the add-on. :)

9. Totally agree. They forced me to switch a few days ago before they'd let me log in.
I sent emails asking how to keep the "classic" email format, which I really liked, and got two replies telling me to check the help pages, which of course provides the option to email if I don't want to switch, which of course leads to an email telling me to check the help pages, and round and round we go.

I'm currently looking for a good free web-based email that will allow me to import my Yahoo emails on a consistent basis, and just abandon the new Yahoo interface.

Shame, I used to tell friends that used other email services how great Yahoo was. Now I tell them to stay away.

12. There is one
GMX.com, they'll let you use their "mail collector" to grab email from a wide variety of web-based email providers. And yes, they're free.

6. Yep. The two most dreaded words in modern English:
Software Update.

Yahoo has been hounding me for fucking MONTHS to convert to their "New Improved Email," and it's a piece of shit. 'Course, it's free, so I can't bitch.

No, wait. This is bu$h-o-Murka. The less it costs, the louder you holler!

18. Here's what it does to me.
I have to type in that 'image word file' or whatever it is:

-- it often is 9-12 squiggly hard to read characters long.

-- there's that thing that looks like maybe it's a small 'r' or maybe it's a small 'v' but it's partially connected to the other letters so you can't tell.

-- it will over and over and over and over and over and over and over over again NO SHIT make me type in the image and my email and password after I know I typed it in correctly.

-- they will put three sizes of letters in there so you can't guess whether you are looking at a capital letter or a small letter.

It will not give up. It is telling me I have to change my password because they believe it has been compromised.
