It's a great show. Jim Moore is on, explaining how Perry likes charter and religious schools.

There are a few private schools, but other than that, you wouldn't find any brilliant students, former or current, in the whole damn state!

5. I beg to differ
When my niece came back from Flower Mound, Texas to enroll in Iowa City, Iowa public schools; she found the curriculum to not be as rigorous as that in Texas. That and concerns for her safety prompted my brother and sister-in-law to place her in a private school in which she has done very well (to the point that Harvard is on her short list for colleges).

I admit I was surprised. I live in a community very similar to Iowa City in Iowa, and I think our school system is ok.

Broad brushing Texas public schools does not seem to be appropriate. I have pointed to at least one school system which has good students and successful results.
